With my amv's I just send my most recent ones to the contest. When I come out with a new one then I send that one instead. I make them for fun. If they win great, if not oh well. If people enjoy them and get to see them at the convention/ contest that's great. I get a great pride/ joy of watching my vids on the big screen knowing that I made that. Anime USA 2003 was the first major contest I got in. My friend said when he saw our video on the big screen he was amazed to see it there. Then the first time I experienced it was Otakon 2004, I was excited, and nervous too. If I recall correctly Dwchang said I was turn pail when it first came on. But after the first 15 seconds I return to normal.

As for the good amv's It's Trick to Make A Music Video, that was everywhere. It depends if that's your newest video or you just keep on submitting it for different groups to enjoy it that aren't on the org.

Anyway to sum it up I think creators for the most part send their vids to have people enjoy them not to win every con.

Don't get your panties in a twist Scintilla,

I did it to show my work to the most people possible. I mean who am I to be stingy and only show it on a big screen once? I felt I could contribute a good video to a cons AMV show. what the judges want to do with it was their choice.

i don't do vids at cons, not my style, i got too much in life to bother to win meaningless stupid things etc. at silly cons.

but i do like cons tho, just each time i go to one, i empty my wallet onto some cool things etc. like the Comic Con, damn i had about 3.5k and was left with enough just to drive back to my place afterwards XD, but i'm not fully ready to submit to cons, and if i DID do that...i would....

use my own remixed music to gain the higher quality of my presentation,
use footage that was bought etc. like from a burned dvd, and i would more or less submit as much as possible, given i live in Alaska and that not many cons happend etc.

and the music i would use...would probably be remixed music from a video game like Halo or from the Final Fantasy series etc.

 but best of luck out there submitting their vids, god speed to ya lads, win as much as ya can
keep up the good work amv people ~_^

I'd be happy just to get my vid to a con, regardless of whether or not it made the entry.

I submit mine on occasion (one over the summer), but for the majority I keep them to myself. Maybe if I make one I'm particularly happy with I'll enter, but most of the time it's enter the video once to one comp, and that's it.

I just send to cons in order to get the video shown. There's something special about seeing your video on a huge screen. Size does matter when it comes to presentation, which is why just about every top video has been shown off at a con.
This has no relevence to the discussion above it
