Hey gang -
I am officially accepting suggestions for CardCaptor Sakura music vids. Now, I'd prefer to stay away from any romance suggestions. I've seen too many CCS + any romance song videos. I'd like to go more with action, following the magic of the cards. I had an idea to do DDR Butterfly, but someone basically already did my concept. Only difference is I had this totally excellent opening planned. Ah well. Mebbe I'll do it in the far future. I'd like to branch out into different anime for variety and to add to my amv resume. You got something burning your brain? Lend me a whisper! I'll see what I can do. ^_^

Making an amv, is rather like being the director of a Broadway show, where you have a million dancers and each of them only knows one step.

"Jen Jen, the Soulless Girl!"
Hiya people! Well, I don't have much to add this time, so I'll get right to it.
pinky - like I've mentioned to you before in e-mails, I haven't seen Card Captor Sakura. So, I can't help you there. Sorry. Don't worry, though, it's pretty high on my list of anime to see. So, maybe I'll be able to post CCS suggestions someday. *sigh* Someday...
Since I'm still on my DDR trip, I think I'll keep posting those suggestions. I have come up with a few other non-DDR ideas, but I'll leave those alone for awhile. Also...
WARNING! SOME OF THESE IDEAS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM THE SERIES, SO IF YOU SEE AN ANIME YOU DON'T KNOW HERE AND DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN AS IF RYUICHI WAS ABOUT TO USE KUMAGOROU BEAM ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gravitation – Dance Dance Revolution - d-complex – “Ecstasy” – Tohma, Noriko, Ryuichi, Nittle Grasper – okay, I know that Nittle Grasper IS those three people, but I listed it that way because of how I approached this idea. I thought that in the less...I don’t know...let’s call them ‘violent’ sections, that the video could focus in each of the members as individuals, then, near the end, focus on the band as a whole. Oh, and in the case of Ryuichi, let’s try to use only his serious moments, cuz this song does NOT lend itself to humor, really. I just see this as a nice, short video with an ‘underground’ feel.
Chobits – Dance Dance Revolution - Divas – “Secret Rendez-vous” – Shimizu/Shinbo – if you know the song, then this idea is pretty self-explanatory. The song is about, what else, secret lovers. So, I think that it fits the couple pretty well. Moreover, it is a short song to begin with (well, the DDR version is; I don’t know if there is a longer original version,) so working with limited footage shouldn’t be a problem.
You know, I'm really fond of that second suggestion. It took me about .0024 seconds to come up with it, too. ^_~
Anyway, right now I'm watching SaiKano, so hopefully I'll finish getting the series soon and be able to start posting suggestions for that, too. Of course, from the first half of the series that I've seen, I don't know that side character videos are going to be easy for that anime. It seems to be VERY focused around the main pairing. Just out of curiosity: are there any SaiKano fans out there?
One last thing: I know I've mentioned this before, but I like to remind you people every once in a while. I love to help out with ideas and brainstorming. If you need a song suggestion or anime suggestion for a video, then just drop me a line! If you don't believe me, then just ask pinky75910. I've given suggestions a number of times for her sake, even though I don't know the anime that most of her videos are put to. As long as I know the general situation, I always search hard for the perfect song or anime/character. So, don't be shy; come on down!!!!
I'm dancing to the beat of "Farewell, Good Luck, and Happy AMV-ing!"

Oof, am I ever late to the thread - but that's because of Seras' Curse, a Hellsing video that is nearly Alucard-free. And it's the only Linkin Park video I ever intend to make. (Ri-i-ght)
OK, enough self-promotion. I love the idea of secondary characters getting play, dj_u_t_g, and you've thrown out some killer ideas. How 'bout going old skool anime with new music and make a Ranma 1/2 video to the Killers "Mr. Brightside"? Focus on either Ryoga, or if one's up to the challenge, Mousse. There'd have to be some cameo appearances by Ranma, just based on the lyrics of the song, but he wouldn't have to be in it much. And the tone of the song really fits Ryoga's and Mousse's sort of depressed pissyness in re: their unrequited loves, Akane and Shampoo.
Love the thread.

"They're not gonna get us!"
Hey, people! Well, my life has been as it always is - a swirling, confusing myriad of Dance Dance Revolution, coloring in my coloring book (hey, no laughing,) and typing up AMV suggestions. Oh, and school. Let's not forget that...because we all know that I'm quite possibly the only high school student in the tri-state area who actually enjoys going to that place. I guess I'm sick in the head or something.
Anywho, as usual, it's generally best for you to just ignore my opening paragraph, as it rarely has ANYTHING relevant in it - like today! So, I'm going to do something constructive and just get on with it.
CPFuller - with the knowledge that your username is super long, we're just going to stick to "CPFuller," okies? ^_^ Anyway, know that I have not forgotten about you. I just need to have a question answered first before I respond. So, I'll get back to you, alrighty?
Okay, this next question is going to sound REALLY stupid to most of you, but I'm not very technically minded (my brother handles most of that stuff,) so try to bear with me. So, downloading a new version of DivX doesn't necessarily mean that I get the new codec or whatever with it, right? The only reason I ask this is because I haven't been able to watch some videos lately (namely, CPFuller's "Seras' Curse" video, which is what I wanted to comment on.) Now, I know that my computer isn't just being difficult; I'm actually missing some components for watching videos encoded in certain formats. So, my real question is this: where, if it is possible, can I download the necessary software needed to fix this little problem? Again, I'm really bad with technology (why do you think I can't learn anything beyond Windows Movie Maker II?,) so please be patient. Anyway, I'm sorry if I sounded like a moron there (well, more than usual.)
Hey, I know what you all came for! The suggestions, of course! So, without (much) further adieu, I give you the ideas! Also...
Angelic Layer – Dance Dance Revolution – U1 Jewel Style – “Midnite Blaze” – Icchan/Shuuko and Oojirou/Misaki – okay, ya’ll remember how Misaki and Shuuko both learned to fight with their Angels by dancing? Well, I want to combine that concept of ‘learning on the dance floor’ with the romance edge in this song. For this video, I think that showing the Angels a LITTLE is in order – namely, when Athena or Hikaru (or Wizard, really) dance in the series. I know...a lot of people use those clips, but it’s always just a mindless dance video (regardless of how well edited it is.) In this case, I want to see the element of dancing with the characters attractions to each other – as sort of a character profile/action video. Originally, I was thinking of an Oojirou profile, showing how he loves/admires Shuuko and reflects that on her daughter. Then, I remembered Icchan’s love/admiration for Shuuko and thought that maybe the two separate pairings might work too. Either way, I’d like to see this video.
X TV, Chobits - Dance Dance Revolution - Steve Rhyner – “Look to the Sky” and/or (“True Color Mix”) – Hinoto/Saiki, Yumi/Ueda – I don’t know why those character pairings came to mind first, but they did. For some reason unbeknownst to me, I’m obsessed with the idea of making Hinoto lip-sync, so that is what I’m thinking could be done in this video. Also, in between Hinoto ‘singing,’ there could be various touching scenes between her and Saiki. This video, too, borders on a semi-parody, mostly because the lyrics don’t really fit the whole Hinoto/Saiki situation – but it would be fun to manipulate the scenes to make the story between them fit the song. As for the second couple, I’ll leave the interpretation on that one up to you. They just struck me as good for this song, so I added them.
Well, I'm fresh out of inspiration, so I bid you all good night as I admire my oh-so-adorable salamander necklace! So cuuuuuuuuuute~!

Re: "They're not gonna get us!"
You know, I'm really the clueless techer here. I'm no good at encoding, and it hurts me, 'cause a bunch of people who d/l my stuff can't watch it. I use MPEG-2 compression, which means people need a player that is capable of DVD playback in order to watch. (Evil as it is) Windows Media Player should work, and Emcronian was nice enough to put up a link to a plug-in that'll let Winamp play MPEG-2's - http://inmplayer.sourceforge.net/. I've never been able to figure out DivX (so I don't use it - the old if-at-first-you-don't-succeed-give-up-and-take-a-nap strategy), but I'm pretty sure the DivX package also includes the latest version of the codec. Xvid, on the other hand, works really well at maintaining video quality, but the filesize still winds up being too big (like, around 100 MB).dj_ultima_the_great wrote:Okay, this next question is going to sound REALLY stupid to most of you, but I'm not very technically minded (my brother handles most of that stuff,) so try to bear with me. The other thing about MPEG-2's is they are major resource hogs. They play OK on a reasonably powerful computer (P-III or so), but they're no good on a P-II or lower. Some day when I stop ostriching my weaknesses (ie. sticking my head in the sand), I'll try to put up more easily playable versions on the org, or on my own website, if I ever get that far.

Thanks for posting that link. I've been looking for something like that.rogueintellectproductions wrote:http://inmplayer.sourceforge.net
Here is a link that I hope helps you as well.

I recommend reading the entire guide if you haven't started but that page right there should help you out for the specific encoding problems you have with xvid.

Start the Commotion!
Well, if the subject line isn't enough of an indication, I finally got around to acquiring the means to watch CPFuller's glorious videos! My brother helped, of course - cuz even with a link to exactly what I need I'm still clueless. Anywho, I was able to watch them, and that's the important part, right? ^_^ So...
CPFuller - wow. I really admire your videos (even if they were being difficult! ^_~) The first one I watched was "Start the Commotion!?" I never finished Excel Saga (to be honest, I stopped finding it funny around episode ten and halted there,) but now I kind of regret it, cuz your video was hilarious. I have to ask this, though. Does the anime get better as it goes on? I seriously lost faith in it. Like, the first three episodes were gut-bustingly funny, then it was just sheer boredom. Your video inspired me to want to watch the series again. What do you think? Where does Excel Saga rank on your list? Also, I watched "Naota's Lament," which helped me identify an anime I couldn't seem to figure the name of. Actually, that statement seems kind of sad considering how popular FLCL seems to be. That I would have never been able to place images with the name seems pathetic. Um, I had a question. Is the video supposed to be that...flashy? I think it's just a combination of my player and your funny encoding that caused the problem, but the video would flash REALLY fast the whole time. I mean, like, it was a seizure-inducing kind of speed on the flashes. Looking past that, it was a very good video. Even though I don't know the anime, I know that I see A LOT of comedy videos with scenes from FLCL in them. It was really refreshing to see a serious one. So, what's your opinion on that anime? I know that it's popular, but that doesn't always make an anime good. For instance, DBZ is popular and I hate it with a fiery passion. On the other hand, Evangelion is also very popular and I loved that anime. I had considered FLCL, but I wasn't sure. Lastly, I watched "Seras' Curse" (by the way, "Victoria's Secret" would have been hilarious, I think ^_~ ,) and I really loved that video, despite having not seen Hellsing. Though that anime is VERY high on my list of ones to see, I just haven't gotten there yet. When I do see it, your video will definitely be one that I come back to. Thank you very much for submitting your video to me (and thanks just for making the other two!) And hey, everyone's late to the party sometimes. The important part is that you took the time to consider my thread, if a bit belatedly. ^_^ Also, I appreciate that you like my ideas (even if no one will take them up v_v - oh well, I'll post 'em anyway.) Finally, I haven't seen Ranma 1/2 (I seem to be saying that a lot tonight, eh?,) but I totally support your idea. Hopefully someone (or you *winkwinknudgenudge*) will take it up. This was a ginormous response to you, so I'll quit here. ^_^;; Hope to hear from you again!
Um, I didn't leave myself much time for anything else tonight, so I'll just hop straight to the suggestions part, okies? Also...
WARNING! SOME OF THESE IDEAS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM THE SERIES, SO IF YOU SEE AN ANIME YOU DON'T KNOW HERE AND DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN AS THOUGH YUZURIHA HAD JUST SICCED INUKI ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
X TV – Dance Dance Revolution - Club Spice – “Cutie Chaser (Morning Mix”) – Yuzuriha – okay, I know that Yuzu-chan has a serious side, but I like her much better when she’s bouncy and happy, so I think she deserves a peppy, cute video. When I first heard this song (while I was dancing to it... ^_^;;) I instantly thought an AMV to an adorable character. I wasn’t sure WHAT adorable character I wanted to use, but I knew this song was perfect for one. Finally, I decided on Yuzuriha. Anyway, I consider this idea double challenging, because you not only need limited side character footage, but you need the HAPPY stuff, not the angsty stuff. Thankfully, this song is super short (like Yuzu-chan’s skirts!) so you shouldn’t have too much of a problem.
Serial Experiments Lain – John Mayer – “No Such Thing” – Alice, Mika, Taro – this is kind of a weird character combo, but this idea just won’t stop pestering me. I can see a somewhat happy video all about looking back on one’s own childhood. If you know the series, then you might even consider this an ironic parody of its storyline, because everyone’s youth essentially gets MESSED UP in the series. This idea is slightly twisted, I know, but it won’t leave me alone, so I have to suggest it.
Hmm...I thought I had more DDR stuff yet, but I obviously have been neglecting typing up those ideas as of late. Also, yeah, yeah, I know. Some kind mod marked my thread for spoilers, but I still want to mark it before my suggestions JUST IN CASE someone misses it. After all, there's nothing worse entertainment-wise than when your favorite, incomplete show gets completely spoiled for you by some loose-lipped idiot online. Remember kids, I'm lookin' out for you! *cheezy grin*
Eeeek! I almost forgot!!!!!!
Corran - thank you, as always, for being the ever-kind expert of AMVs and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. You rock, dude. You completely, utterly ROCK.
Sheesh...I wouldn't have forgiven myself if I had forgotten that! After all, Corran rules. It's a fact of life. Just face it.
Well, this was super-long this time. *shakes a mockingly angry fist as CPFuller's mongoloid response section* I think I'll just end it here.
*kicking her best friend's version of DDR cuz it doesn't work on her PS2*

Wow, dj, that was one doozy of a response! I'm still in a state of distraction from stuffing myself with food (hope everyone had a great Gluttony - I mean, Thanksgiving Day) and Christmas shopping (which I really couldn't do because I tripped and fell and hurt just about all of my limbs, including jamming my left [non-editing] arm, but don't cry for me - this way I didn't have to go to the mall [hooray!]).
Um, where was I? Oh, yes, thank you, I'm so glad you liked my videos! I didn't expect you to download them all - I'm really honored.
On to your questions. I liked Excel Saga alot, but I have to agree, after the second volume the series really hits a dead spot until the final volume. There are two recap episodes between (I think) eps 13 and 18, and a whole slew of weak parodies that are either too obscure or just not that funny. (Actually, the first recap episode, ep 13, is a hoot, if for nothing other than the audience made up of Excels and Hyatts.) The last volume is really good, though - the director and the writers try to cobble together a plot, complete with climax and denoument, they even go serious (no, really, serious AND dramatic) for an episode, then it's like, "What the heck were we thinking?" and huck it back up. All the footage in Start the Commotion!? (or is it ?!) comes from the last episode. The plot's been resolved, everything is in its place (well, as much as the series will permit it), let's make an episode with everything the censors told us to cut back on - blood, sex (oh, lotsa goofy sex jokes here - the precursor to Puni Puni Poemi), poop jokes (which I left out of the video, you're welcome ^_-), whatever fever dreams came to the writers' minds. It was a trick staying with one episode; thankfully, I had the short version of Start the Commotion on a songs from TV commercials CD
FLCL - First off, no, the vid isn't supposed to flash like that. I've had people tell me that there are interlacing issues with the video, which is weird, because whenever I play it, I don't see it. That's probably what you're seeing, and that means it's my encode, not your player. I should have a clean version of that video up someday; I can also put it on VCD or something, too. I love the series. There is a really serious subplot that gets buried under all of the surreality (I just made that up!) - it's a coming-of-age story on the level of A Separate Peace or Cathcer in the Rye. Thing is, almost everyone gets distracted by the Vespa Girl or the robots that climb out of Naota's head or "...those eyebrows!" (side note: if you notice, nothing supernatural happens in my video until the very end, which goes pretty much counter to the demeanor of the series) Honestly, FLCL is one of my favorite series, and I always get a little weepy at the end - it's like Hideaki Anno (who directed both FLCL and Evangelion, so if you liked Eva...) was channeling John Hughes. Deep.
Hellsing is a definite recommend - just be warned, it kinda wanders from intense vampire action to political subterfuge to hard-boiled crime drama, finally back to vampire action, but it left me a little empty at the end, in sort of the same way Cowboy Bebop left me empty. There's a finality that discourages one from wondering, "I wonder what happens next."
ANYway, I didn't mean to go on for so long. I'm really happy you enjoyed my videos, and I hope you like my next video (which, hopefully, will complete my Change Sucks trilogy - I don't know why, I seem to be stuck in a mood), a very dark Haibane Renmei video.
An equally long response deserves an equally equally long response to the response.

To paraphrase one Mr. Cool James, please refrain from referring to it as a revival, I've been lurking for ages.
