Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I believe the <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... p">"Delete Bad Video Entry" form</a> was instituted during last year's VCA process, for this purpose.

doesn't this create a double standard?
if mods remove new non-anime video entries without removing all non-anime video entries, we will forever have people complaining about why such and such video got removed when such and such didn't.

i always assumed that non-anime video entry to be one of the non-enforced (aside from vca disqualification) rules. like no downloaded sources.

also, there have been a growing number of non-anime "original drawings/animation" videos that have been uploaded to the server.

With videos like that, we have to change the way most of us define AMVs. Otherwise problems like the ones mentioned will just get worse.

This has no relevence to the discussion above it

Yeah, it generally is unenforced as far as I've seen... I guess they hope that enough people will care (if only about the VCAs) to request their own videos deleted themselves.

I personally wouldn't mind if the mods <i>did</i> remove all non-anime video entries, but I have a feeling that some people would be kinda ticked. So the mods/admins keep it to deleting locally hosted videos rather than deleting the entries outright. (I remember when the local copy of "Undernara" was deleted.)

I believe it's stated in the rules somewhere that original animation is considered anime for the purposes of answering the "is it an AMV or not" question...

Well, considering that entries themselves don't take up much space nor mess with too much on the .org, they're probably not a big enough problem for the admins to go hunting actively for them. With uploads on the other hand, there's real incentive (storage concerns) to weed them out, seeing how noone would want this to become everyone's favorite video file dump

But I guess it's up to the admins and such. I never minded the database, entries, myself...

For as long as I can recall, the admin never really minded live action database entries, I mean the occasional live action video here and there (as long as your profile isn't just all live action videos..) didn't do any harm, you just had to keep them off the donut and host them yourself or via friend/studio/volunteer aka separate webspace/server.

Has anyone even watched this trailer? I'm sure the creator is happy this has turned into a bitch thread about something I thought was resolved a long time ago?

This is going to keep popping up time and time again. I find it sad, it's what everyone wants. So they get it

Actually opinion has been mixed. I had no problem with them, Phade was strongly against them (hence having the rule that disqualifies you from the VCAs) which is why I've kept my own non-anime videos to my website and the appropriate livejournal communities.
