strange idea, is it okay? [audio commentary version]

Post by odian0 » Sat Nov 06, 2004 2:39 pm

okay, so, i'm re-making my "99 orchestrations" video (if you haven't sen it, check it out, link in sig) because people said that the interlacing was too distracting and it could be better. so i'm working on it. but i was wondering if anyone's tried this before: submitting two copies to the org, one regular one, and one with commentary. i had this stupid idea in the shower, and have wanted to do it since. get me, joe and that squeeking spooky doll (from I Feel Sick) and do an audio commentary. not that the video is good enough for that, but i thought it would be a funny concept. so, my question is:

a) would the org allow this?
b) has anyone bothered to do this before?

i think if as long there is change to the video, the commentary video would be significantly different from the original (which is the criterion for a remake). i don't know if they'd allow you to submit the commentary video if all you changed was the audio.
but i'm not sure, perhaps the admin would disagree.

there was a post with a similar idea. i think the guy wanted to put the commentary in a separate ogg stream or something. i don't know if he's gone through with it though.

i've seen a few vids with subtitled self-commentary. however, they've all been on the level of parody.
