Suggestion query...suggestion

Post by Alpha_Hazard » Sat Nov 06, 2004 10:43 am

so I love the suggestion query but one problem that I have with it is that some of my least favorite artists are showing up on it. I will likely never download these videos because I absolutely cannot stand the song...I don't care if it has a pure 5 star rating from everyone else on the site. I would really like to be able to say "not Interested" or "Decline" to some of the suggestions and have the query act accordingly, preventing it from suggesting further videos by artists I do not like.

Kind of defeats the purpose, because then you're not leaving a star rating. The whole purpose here is to suggest vids it thinks you'll like, you star rate them, and the system evolves depending on your ratings. If it has a pure 5, but, in actuality, sucks... Then DL it, watch it, and rate it accordingly. Maybe, eventually, you won't see the artist anymore, I don't know.

Just out of curiosity, which artist(s) are you talking about?
Alcohol, Drugs, Overdrive, Noise, Neon Lights, Party People, Revolution

Similar to this, I've noticed that the vast majority of the stuff on my suggested query is stuff I already have - just not from local download. (Which is good - because I usually quite liked it - but y'know, I already have it.) Either from direct links, or older stuff that only WAS on direct/indirect/whatever, or from seeing them at cons.

It seems like a waste of the org's bandwidth to get it again just to star-rate it, or is this actually the best thing to do?

I mention this because it's also something that might apply to a "pass" button, although for different reasons. (I think it's a bit much to screen out by artist. The whole thing revolves around star ratings, as I understand.)
