TRWYP2 - interest/ideas 4 new year

I know the last contest was a flaming failure, but this time, I am up for another round and better management.

For those who don't know, TRWYP stands for "Team Rocket Wants Your Project" - A stupidly named contest that had 'project' thrown in for some reason sporting a rule that you had to use a certain song - "Double Trouble" - From the Pokemon 2.B.A. Master Soundtrack.

The key rules that really snagged people in this contest were two thing:
-You COULDN'T use pokemon
-You HAD to implement lip synching SOMEWHERE
- and there could be NO repeated use of anime(meaning if someone else was using the anime in the contest, you couldn't)

I have a proposal for a new contest. Unfortunetly, I am moving out next December, so my funds for the contest are extremely limited(unlike the last one where you could win 50 bucks and use it however).

But, I hope that won't scare people off.

The new and improved TRWYP2(wow, that stupidly rhymed) will sport some new things:

-You can use whatever song you'd like!
-You DON'T have to incorporate lip synch! Yay!
-And instead of purely focusing on editing and story abilities, this will instead focus mainly on your video editing(NOT video editing to music, mind you) and only secondly, your AMV editing skills.

Of course, there are the twists that relate to TRWYP, but these won't be revealed until the contest actually gets underway.


The purpose of this thread is to gauge interest, possibly have some advertising going on, and suggestions to improve from the last formidable failure.

I know how to improve myself- I will keep up with the entrants and give them fair warning, make certain rules so we can all work together on communication...

But otherwise, I need to know what people would have an interest in prize-wise, and see what form judging should take place in.
Should we have actual judges?
Should I(SQ) be the only judge?
Should I pull in some real video-wizards?(AbsoluteDestiny, to name one).
Or should the judging be by voters in polls?

I'd also like to know if anyone could donate webspace/FTP access for the applicants/participants, because last time it was basically "Get it as small as you can and email it to me in pieces"... Or use your own webhost.

So basically, this thread is all about ideas and suggestions, possibly even flames about how bad my management(or lack thereof) skills are.


I know this contest isn't nearly as popular as some others, but I am hoping with many improvements on my behalf and the contest itself, it will get there as being "original" and "Stupidly entertaining".

With a touch of "I don't know how the editors can sit through this torture" to the side.

I am eagerly awaiting anyone's replies, whether they be flames, compliments, suggestions, or otherwise.

ok...i looked at your site, and nothing is updated...still refers to the first contest.

Also, what is the deadline? When will the main contest take place? Will it be over a period of time in order to let the viewers vote(if this is the judgeing method)?

Am just wondering..because i am moving tomorrow, so will not be able to do any hard editing for a week or so.

This is just gauging interest. The last contest had around 3 or 4 months for editing.

So, when the contest will start, sometime in January, I suppose. And when will it end?
Dunno. Probably Febuary or March. Or some other time, depending on participants' requests.

All in all, this is just a suggestions/complaints on the last contest thread, as well as a thread to determine how many people will enter, if any, so I can adjust rules/sites/forums/mailing lists/etc. accordingly.
