Attention Yellowcard fans

Post by nailz » Wed Nov 03, 2004 11:59 am

I have found a band that uses a Violin. Coincidentally, they've been around forever. For other similar bands, check my links in my signature.

Yes, Ayreon is fucking awesome.

Agreed.
Strong vocals, great arrangements and the use the violin (my favorite instrument) put Ayreon high on my list.
Love them.
Even bypassing those folksy/country undertones some of the songs have.
Strangely enough Merlin's Will is one of my favorite songs.
Yellowcard.

What's so amazing about a rock band using a Violin again?

Oh wait. King Crimson circa '72-'74 aka. The Greatest Live Band Evar had a violin player, too...

And yes, Ayreon is teh pwn.

It's all about the violins Oto, at least for me.
I'll drown anything else in the song but the violins should the song be...err...less than.
Violins kick musical butt especially with a piano or a nice guitar accompaniying it.
OK, I love it too much.

Some Collective Soul songs use violins also.

Band with violin = Mahavishnu Orchestra
First Jerry Goodman, then Jean-Luc Ponty. And hearing a violin and guitar making crazy lead runs at precisely the same time is a little scary and a little exciting. Like sex in public.

...Or so I'm told.

Like I've ever had sex.

Another great band; instrumental. Prog rock with an orchestra, basically.

Yep, Mahavishnu orchestra is another one. And I'm a fan of Ponty's work in general.

But the best pure prog-rock band that used violins is, I think, Gentle Giant. Considering each of the 5 band members played about a half-dozen instruments, there may even be a couple of violins there. /recalls slightly ridiculous-looking picture of the bassist with his bass on playing violin

>>> King Crimson Track w/Violin (although it's one of their most tame tracks... /wishes they had sample of LTIA II or some of the improvs...)

Anyway...

Are there any Ayreon samples around other than the ones I got from Flint?
