Damn Otohiko.
I'm going to slit his throat off.

On a more ironic note, I may be one of the only people who actually didn't find that part freaky (I was stuck on the part where the voice first came in, for a couple of hours, which probably desensitized me...)

I think a lot of good scary videos are not really as much horror videos as just good drama videos. Pen-pen's recent Magnetic Rose AMV would probably fall under that; it's the context which accounts for the effect there...
The only AMV to really freak me out though was Kamoc's THISISTHERIGHTHOLE

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I don't know doing that just seems like it would be annoying to the person viewing the video. The Wired Knight wrote:Well there is the option of the everpopular flash option of having something silent for a while and then a sudden shriek or high pitched noise and having an appropriate image flash by.

Of course it would, it's annoying in a flash video, I'm just saying that it would work.Nandez wrote:I don't know doing that just seems like it would be annoying to the person viewing the video. The Wired Knight wrote:Well there is the option of the everpopular flash option of having something silent for a while and then a sudden shriek or high pitched noise and having an appropriate image flash by.
I remember a lot of people thinking that would happen with the Lain video that Ian showed at AWA that was just static and shots of lain for lord knows how long. The video made a lot of people very paranoid of something like that happening.

Re: How Can a Vid Be Scary?
Not all the time will a scary moie be based on surpize, it could be due to gore and the apperance or background in the movie. But the idea of being surprised works easier and alot better than the challenge of defining horror as more than a sneek attack.Nandez wrote:I havn't really seen a movie in a long time thats really had any scary effect so I was wondering how could a vid be scary and if there are any on here. Most things in movies rely on surprise to scare someone.
