So basically, the rule is videos are only allowed if they contain at least some animation that was created in Japan. No exceptions. Except when there is an exception. But that is the exception. Excepting when an exception is the norm, then that exception is not an exception. Of course, that in itself is an exception from the exceptions, except in a case-by-case basis where an exception may be made.
I finally understand.

The best Smurfs MV I've seen is to the song "I feel good" and it shows Smurfette giving some other smurf a blowjob.

Or, it is. Just because it wasn't made in Japan, doesn't mean it wasn't produced by the Japanese animation industry.mystryl_shada wrote:Uh...but there have been some "anime" that have NOT been produced in Japan...and yet people still refer to them as anime. The line isn't quite so easy to draw.Tsunami Jones wrote:AbsoluteDestiny wrote: animation produced by the japanese animation industry".
It's a good definition, which makes what you point out JMZ, irrelevant.
Or we could not, because in my experience I've never heard anyone in english say "anime" and have someone reply with "from what country?"genestarwind21122 wrote:Or maybe we should change the sites name to jamv.org.

And if someone can't make the distinction, perhaps they should just ask if something is actually anime before they attempt to upload it?

Well these days you cant upload a video which only contains footage that hasn't been confirmed as anime. So even with new anime shows, each one has to be verified by an admin. Pretty much all the non-anime stuff on the org occurred before we had the confirmed anime rule and any of it that is still around is simply because we haven't noticed it yet.Tsunami Jones wrote:And if someone can't make the distinction, perhaps they should just ask if something is actually anime before they attempt to upload it?

Yeah, when it comes down to it, there are two definitions that people use for anime: one is stuff that comes from Japan, and the other is stuff that looks like anime. However, you don't, for example, call Korean comics "manga", you call them "manwa" (Uh, not sure if I spelled that right...). But it still looks similar to Japanese manga.
Hm. Not sure what point I was going at there. But in any case, the mods on the side have obviously opted for definition one: stuff that comes from Japan. We could debate this to the end of the world, and there have been a lot of good theories and points on both sides, but still the mods have final say.
