No, it's the player. There's nothing to do what you are discussing in the playback stream.taifunbrowser wrote:obviously not, because thats the only video where it does that

nope
it says that its an mpeg- but what he could have done was that when he was editing made the clips "cropped" so that theres a lot of black space, but that cant be it, because if you make it smaller, the black space gets smaller, which doesnt mean they're one vid.....

Okay, I think I figured out what the problem here is. Taifun, could you please tell us what resolution your desktop is running in?
What it sounds like you're doing is running your media player in "full screen" by hitting "the button next to the "x" to the top right of the media player" (your words exactly). This is actually a maximized window, making the player take up the full screen. If you've got the video still set to play back at 100%, it will stretch to take up as much room in the window as it needs, up to and not beyond it's native resolution.
If your desktop is at low resolutions (ie 640x480) then when you watch newer, larger videos they'll actually be shrunk down unless you've maximized the window. This is because they need the full desktopspace (or maybe even more) to display at their 100% size. Caffine Encomium is only 352x240, which will display at full size in a much "smaller" window, relative to the desktop. When you maximize the window, the video is already playing at 100% so it'll just pad out the extra space with black borders around the edge. (note all this assumes that you've got it set to show 100% and NOT fit to window)
If you double click the video window it should go to the true full screen mode, stretching the video to take full advantage of the screen.
Sooooo, if you are running windows in a low resolution, there's your answer. If you're running in a high resolution, ignore everything I just said and get a real video player. WMP may be doing something weird and saving settings on a per video basis or something. Regardless, and it's been said multiple times in this thread:
This is a setting in your video player (or operating system), not in the video file.
To my knowledge, there is no such thing as a resolution lock in .mpeg or .avi (or the package variants like .mkv or .ogm). Closest I've seen is some streaming quicktimes over the web (movie trailers and the like) that have been imbedded in a web page, but you can't even resize the play window, let alone the video.

Hmmmm....
it says its 1024 X 768 pixels... that was a good response... hmm
oh well, it doesnt really matter, the only reason I wanted to know, was that because it would be cool to "set" the size of the vid so that all these op givers who watch it at full screen won't call it fuzzy... for god's sake- all of the movies I've seen are at least a LITTLe fuzzy at full screen! lol

taifunbrowser wrote:Ive noticed that most of the more Professional AMV have a set "size" and when you "full screen" the vid, it remains small, and with good quality. My movies so far have reformed to the size of the media player, causing people who use the "full screen" option to view fuzziness. To avoid this problem, is there any way I can set a "maximum" size to my vid, so that there isnt any fuzziness if they Expand the window, but that you can also go to "skin mode" and make the video smaller. so, in other words, is there a way to set a maximum size for my vid, while still alowing it to get smaller?

Seriously... try and word your queries better...
