AMV Contest participation

Umm... I just looked up how many AMVs are said to have participation in the No Brand Con 2005 AMV contest that I am running this coming spring. It came out to twenty-eight.
I seriously doubt all these will actually be entered-- or even any of them.
Is it a common thing for people to say they participated in a con when they don't really plan to?

Yes, I've seen video entries that were apparently entered into every single contest listed on the site, presumably to get more search hits.

We're working on a mod that gives contest coordinators the ability to alter the contest participation of videos that aren't actually in their contests.

What's with people adding their 50+ contests to their video info?

Well besides trying to get more hits, it appears that several people have thought that by adding contests into their vid info, that their vid is actually *entered* into those contests

It's like paizuri said: People do it to get more hits in hopes their videos will be downloaded more. I don't understand the point of lying about your video just to get more hits/downloads or a higher score. It's similar to giving your own videos all 10s.

Man... people are using my contest. I feel so... used.
