i've managed to rip all of them, but they're in .m2v and .wav format. i don't want audio in them, since i'll be making a video, so i just wanna use the m2v's in the editing. but premiere works way, way, way too slow with them, and virtualdub can't find any frames in them at all, so i can't make any uncompressed avi's to use for lossless results. all the movies are heavily interlaced, and i don't want ANY detoriation in quality.
how did you people do to make useful of these files? even if i convert them, and crop the x-files to the x2-format (704x480 to 640x416), without any qualityloss, virtualdub won't be able to read the mpeg's. neither will videomach, or any other program, except that windows media player will play it just fine =/ help?

"AVS" is shorthand for AVISynth, possibly the most powerful video editing tool in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing.
For a detailed guide into what you should be doing with it look at the guides to AVS and AVS scripting in EADBAG, this should help a lot. for commands specific to what you're doing i suggest asking one of the more experienced VGMV editors...i can't think of anyone specifically right now but if all else fails just post a new thread here.
Happy AMV/VGMV-ing
