Audio makes popping/distorted noises

Post by angelx03 » Sun Oct 10, 2004 8:42 am

Ok, remember in this thread where I was having problems playing the VCDs. I WAS able to play the VCDs and any other media file on Media Player Classic. The problem is that when I play them in like Zoom Player or even Windows Media Player 10, the audio gets really distorted and keeps making popping noises. I think it started to happen when I installed that AMVapp 2.0. Any idea what's wrong?

actually the Popping Noise your hearing if from the Audio ###.ASM file not
being compatable with DirectX-9 - for that correction, just download the latest
updated DirectX- package. There was a bad-directX-9 reported about 18 months ago and MicroSoft made an update.

Audio distorting "after its been playing a while" is not possible - unless
your sound card is over-heating - but then it would be continuously distorted!

- My thoughts are telling me that it has something to do with the DirectX 8-)

So I should download and install Directx 9.0c?

hmmm . . . try re-installing your old DirectX and see if that cures the problem.

- it seems to me that DirectX-7 had a simular problem with VCD's back in 1997
but I can't remember what it involved anymore ... it had something to do with
the New MediaPlayer 7 Audio being used in Windows95 . . . I can't remember!

umm ... maybe by re-installing the DirectX that you have, it will correct the Audio!?

---- jezzzzz, you got me stumpt!

I've got the same problem you have - now!

it must be something in the AMVers download-pack we got a few day's ago!

re-formatting hard-drive ~_~ another hour off-line!!
