Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
I'm not sure why the black border is there. It kind of ... materialized when I imported the project into Pro. I wasn't sure what to do about it. I may come out with a remaster eventually.
Again, thank you very much!

Oh, okay... In that case, just make the project resolution the same as that of all your clips. It doesn't have to be 720x480; it's just that that's what it should be if you're using standard 4:3 DVD footage.ReannaKing wrote:I'm not sure why the black border is there. Premiere Pro doesn't automatically resize your clips when you import them (though sometimes you have to right-click and do "Interpret Footage..." in the Library in order to make sure everything's being interpreted as having the same pixel aspect ratio); so if you take a bunch of clips that are at, say, 540x360, and throw them into a 720x480 project, you're going to have those borders. So just set the project to whatever size your clips are.

Most likely thats it, I had that problem for a while when I first started and had no idea what it was. My clips were at 1:1 square pixels, and Premiere was seeing them as something like 0:9 DV footage. That creates borders on the 2 sides particularly. Also most DVDs come with title safe borders on them already (since a portion of the footage always goes beyond what you can see on the TV screen, you don't have this same problem on computers), Remember to crop those out when you rip the DVDs using AviSynth's Crop() feature.Scintilla wrote: Premiere Pro doesn't automatically resize your clips when you import them (though sometimes you have to right-click and do "Interpret Footage..." in the Library in order to make sure everything's being interpreted as having the same pixel aspect ratio); so if you take a bunch of clips that are at, say, 540x360, and throw them into a 720x480 project, you're going to have those borders. You can also crop them and resize afterwards, but the borders sometimes affect certain effects you do in premiere, so I suggest cropiing before you import.
Anyways, was cute nonetheless ^^

AviSynth hates me; I haven't been able to get it to work. You will all chide me for this but:
For ripping I use SmartRipper.
For capturing I use VirtualDub.
And of course, for editing I use Adobe Premiere Pro.
I use what works for me. If I could get AviSynth to work I'd use that, but I haven't been able to work with it at all.

hmm.. well Virtualdub also lets you crop too, Its one of the builtin filters. If you capture using huffyuv as the codec in virtual dub, its not all that bad, Avisynth just has better deinterlacing and cleanup filters.ReannaKing wrote:AviSynth hates me; I haven't been able to get it to work. Anyway, if your having a specific problem with getting AVISynth to work feel free to PM me, I'd be glad to help. Theres also the help forum with tons of other people like me that would be glad to help out.
I guess someone should write an "AVIsynth for dummies" guide ;p
(Please don't take that as an insult, its a play off of the "for dummies" line of guide books you can buy in the store ;p I don't think you would, but you never know on these forums ;p )

As far as huffyuv goes...
I usually export as Microsoft MPEG-1 when I capture from DVDs, but if I'm capturing from lower quality footage like downloaded footage (I know, I'm evil) I use huffyuv.
Ooh, an "AviSynth for Dummies Like Reanna" would be great.
Yeah, I posted a help topic a while ago, but no one really said anything helpful and it got buried eventually.
Once I get Internet back up on my compy I'll probably PM you. I'd love to get AviSynth working-- especially for its deinterlacing-ness.
To get (slightly) back on topic however... like all of my videos there are technical flaws with this new one, but I do think this one is creatively and technically better than most I've done before, so I believe I at least have upped my standards.
So, as the Tortuga Twins like to say, "Up yours!" (Just kidding-- you've all been very helpful)
