Edit button(New idea about it! I swear!)

Post by SQ » Fri Oct 01, 2004 9:06 pm

-dodged tomatoes-

Okay. So. Edit button.

I know we lack one, and for good reason. I'm not demanding an edit button everywhere.

What I am suggesting, however, is an edit button in specific forums.

Mainly, just the AMV Contests forum, and possibly the conventions forum.

Why?

Because, to put it quite simply, these threads need to have their first posts editable.

Contest due dates and rules change. This important information should be kept in the first post. After initial posting of the topic, the information cannot be changed after further discussion, unless you make an entirely new thread, which seperates the contest-goers on which thread they're supposed to be posting in.

So, because of the constant changing and updating of rules, submissions, guidelines, and news in an AMV contest without organizing a mailing list many people don't want to get into, I suggest an edit button only applicable to the AMV Contests forum, and maybe the Anime Conventions forum, if needed.

Thanks for reading this in advance.

Le blarg. With the creation of the Multi-Editor projects forum, I suggest allowing editing of posts in there, as well. >_>

As someone who is starting a new Multi Editor project but has delayed making the post for a few days (and talking about it in the Instrumentality thread instead) because I wanted to get everthing completly planed out and correct, I thank you.

This will be pretty interesting to see how this works out. I wonder how it will take people to notice.

I mean... we see if it ends up being a good thing.

I've never been against the edit button - it was one of phades rules - but I saw this as a reasonable inbetween.

Interesting, there seems to be no way to tell if a post has been edited. Don't most forums have a little note that "This post edited on 'timestamp'" to avoid confusion?

Yes you can, it's below the sig. You can see it on SQ's thread in contests.
