I agree, I've listened to songs that have been between 30 and 60 minutes and being glad when the song was only half way through. But for videos, I start losing interest after 4 or 5 minutes (with a few exceptions). I try to never go past 5 minutes when I'm coming up with ideas, but I aim for 3-4.

I think that you will get very few entries over five or six minutes. It should not be a lot of work to allow longer videos "at contest leader's discretion." If you really don't want to deal with than just set it at seven or so.

The advantage of the "contest leader's discretion" idea is you don't have people wondering wether to enter becase their video was 5-10 seconds over the limit (as I have.)

i know ive made a 7 min video, and I liked what it came out as, but most of the time my videos are around 3-5 min mark, with a few 2 minuet ones.

But I tend to watch AMVs that are around 5-6 minuets, mostly maybe so I can be inspired by someone elses video to try to do the same, becasue running a long video, imo tends to want to reuse some scenes from earlier, becasue you cannot find anything to fit into that 10 sec gap that has been haunting you for 3 days.

This is a interesting topic, especially there were lots of discussions about my last video at Connichi about the length...

I think it's a matter of personal preference and taste of music. If I can't listen to a long song I don't like I most likely will be bored with a long amv to this.
If I love the song no matter how long it is I'll watch the full video and enjoy it if it is well done

i think 8 minutes is a good limit, since i have seen a very good 8 minute video, "Urban Ragnarok", but thats the only reason i say 8 =P
