Yea. Just not quite far enough to finally release it... yet...

...and it's a shame the only version of Requiem that I have dates back to June...

Speaking of which, where's rose4emily again? Any progress to report of?

Congratulations on all of the awards, everyone. If only I had your editing skills...

I've been moving into my new apartment, as per my very last-minute housing re-assignment.

I just got the internet working yesterday, and have been swamped under things I fell behind on in the process of moving this week.

Hence my absence, my short reply, and my lack of happy updates on anything I've finished for the project.

I am still waiting to see whether or not Songbird is recording the narratives, and how I'm going to get the rest of Pen-Pen's video. I'm afraid I've got no new news on the progress of the fancy new narrative sets, because there hasn't been any. I have constructed a set for another animation, but that's one due for class by the end of today, so it seemed a bit more urgent. Same with credits and intro - I have ideas, but little time to implement them, so they're being very slowly chipped away at (at least until I'm back on schedule with everything else I need to work on).

I also have to reconfigure my DNS service again so it'll be pointing at my computer's new IP, so you'll see the server come back up either this evening or at some point tomorrow.

and by yours be pressed into the ground.

Barring some sort of devastating natural disaster, by the way, I seriously do plan to finish the new narrative sets and credits next weekend. Those, the narrative audio (which I think Songbird is working on), and the second half of Requiem are all that remain to be done before the release of this project.

I'm with all of you - this has definately dragged on for long enough. It's time to wrap up the loose ends and finally announce a release.

Yea I posted the unofficial results when I got back today. I didn;t remember all of the expo ones, but the pro ones were easy to remember since I knew all of the videos already, and the official list on otakuvideo helps also ;p

The official results probably won't be posted till after the con is over and they get settled down ;p

Wowee... I just called up krzT and we were both ecstatic. Thanks guys for all the congrats! And congrats to Bakadeshi and Pen-pen too. (Pen-pen I still need to reply to your really long op. :P)

Hehe, I was going to submit Surrealism, but there was no time to encode and upload a convention version. Besides, it couldn't have won anything besides the "wtf was that?!" award. :)

Rose4Emily: Good luck! Hopefully we'll have this project released in a few weeks.

I think she needs you to send her the scripts of the narratives she'll be narrating. Should we alternate between you and her for each narrative, or you do one section, say widescreen, and she do the other: fullscreen?

how long do you think the narratives sets will take to make?

Hey Rose, If I do get the FTP up back at my house could you resume the second half or would you have to re-download the whole thing? I can try to walk my brother though turning on the FTP and checking the IP but it will turn off when the comp is restarted (which is very rarely but still) so I should probably wait till you have the internet connection secure and set a time up beforehand.

Alternatly I have a 300 Mb .VOB file on my laptop which would be a whole lot easier to get to you. Do you think there would be a significant decrese in quality from using that file? If it doesn't matter then I can have the convention copy to you by the end of the weekend.

So, what do you think?

OK, I have a new server set up. I don't know if it will work since I'm on a college network but everything seems fine.

I did a compression from the vob and it looks fine so I'll just use that file.

The server address is: 132.161.142.50

username is animasia

Pen-Pen: my FTP client hanged on "connecting" when I tried to contact your server (actually, it kept trying to connect and timing out). I just updated the DNS info for my site, though, so you might be able to upload the file through my FTP.

I'm not sure about the VOB thing. As far as I know, I don't have any tools that can directly extract the MPEG2 stream from the VOB and transcode it to the final MPEG4 format without going through a lossy intermediate step. I know that the Huffman is a much larger file, but I am able to work with it directly and produce a very clean looking compressed file through the one-step transcoding.

Unfortunately, I can't resume the download from where it left off.
