I can't spell in my own language. You expect me to spell correctly in Japanese?

Cool! :) But....um...why would you need to change the imagery? *Waits for excuse that doesn't involve something along the lines of "Girls can't narrate action stuff" *

More along the lines of "girls in an era where televisions came in large wooden cabinets weren't likely to be wearing pantsuits". Fifty years later, no problem, but the overall look of the fullscreen 'set' would make it into an irritating anachronism.

That, and I'm starting to think they're a little dull (and too bright visually) in the first place - that I should come up with something a bit prettier anyhow.

Not that the anime and most of the music aren't also anachronistic. So, mainly, I was just looking for an excuse to change the set images.

I've finished the first few rendering units for my animation and audiovisual editing application, and can now make images fade in and out from black, crossfade from one image to another, and move around on the screen. In essence, I can do moving type that appears and dissappears - and plan to use this for the credits (and for the narratives if none of the audio recordings pan out). Hopefully, just the credits. I'm now working on creating a common paramaterized file format and interface for calling and controlling these units so I can easily automate them without having to write a bunch of temporary code for each use. After that I'll complete the 2D animation portion of the application by including a set of filters, color transforms, and spatial transforms that will serve as the necessary building blocks for all common video editing and animating functions. Later functionality will include image creation, audio editing, a transcoding interface to mplayer, and a GUI for temporal video editing and stream compositing. One thing at a time, and it will come together.

Good news: I'm moving into one of the apartment buildings on campus and out of the RIT Inn. Now I get a kitchen and no longer have to take a bus to class.

Bad news: My internet connection might be interrupted for a few days, as the particular set of apartments I'm moving into require that we get external internet from RoadRunner rather than connect directly to the university network, and I'm not sure whether there's already a subscription going for the particular one I'm moving into.

Good news: Once it's back up, it will probably be faster.

Unrelated good news: My second idea for the set design seems to be panning out. I'll post examples as soon as they're done. Until then, just imagine something more abstract, with a black and glowing blue theme and the screenshots moving across the screen rather than sitting still inside a television set. I think I will also include text, vocal narrative or not, for the narratives - but will have to see whether I can get it to look good enough to be worth including. The end result should be far less plain and a much better match for the bumpers and end credits. My contribution to this whole thing has waned a bit lately, and I'd like to do something special now that I'm finally figuring out how to produce it.

---

I've downloaded and succesfully installed a BitTorrent tracker on my laptop. I've yet to have a chance to actually run it and see if it works, though.

---

Pen-Pen: Even with my personal connection down, I'll be able to use any of the public jacks in the area for downloads, so I'll be able to get your final submission of Requiem if you have it posted on another FTP where I can get to it. I've cleared out a lot of hard drive space by archiving old project files to CDs and so forth, so I now have room for this one last download. You still probably have a couple weeks before I have all of the "other" materials together for the widescreen portion, but it'd be nice for me to have it in as soon as possible so I can know everything is in order for the transcoding of all of the AMV features.

OH SHIT!

I just found out that I accedentally deleted my copy of Reqiem off my laptop (Still have everything at home, don't worry) and today is the deadline for the Globocide contest!

Does anyone have a (semi)current version of my video?

If not I'll try to pull it off the Pro voting DVD and re-compress it. I almost forgot I had it on DVD.... Man that was scary.

Sorry for the unnecicary panic.

OUR THREAD WILL NEVER DIE!

interestingly, with myself included , that makes 3 videos that are part of the Animasia project that won awards at conventions. hows that for advertisement ;p Now we just have to finish this project and release it. It would have been nice to be able to get it to play at a panel at AWA this year, but awell. maybe next year.

Awesome! It's really great to hear you guys doing so well - although I'm almost not surprised  I always figured those 3 videos were more than just con-worthy.

A particular congrats to Pen-Pen, since I watched that video evolve from the earliest stages and I know how hard he worked on every aspect of it over these months. Although that's not to say the other two of you worked any less diligently...
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

well technically only 2 of the vids in this project won at AWA. absolution isn't part of the project. jasper, you disappoint :shakes head:
