also, in the gary paulsen book, there was this Lainesque scene where the game showed up in the kid's real life...I think that would spice up the story line of this as well...

I think it would be a lot better if it was just one game, but it was added onto endlessly by the imaginations of the people who played it...sort of like the matrix, where orginally it started as a computer construct, but grew as the humans made it theirs...

another problem I can see is that the "eyescope" was it? Well, they don't seem to have to much of a motive at this point, they just seem like the strange mustache twirling villain who likes to inflict pain...not too threatening, but cute nonetheless...

What if Eyescope was developing military technology and testing it on teenagers, because they were planning on using it as a new type of psychological warfare...or something like that...(okay, not the best idea, but still, it's a start)

also, I would think that if this guy has been stuck in the game for thirty years, his parents probably would have wondered why he's been at a conference for collectors since, well...since pong...and perhaps start looking...

why not a run away note? makes more sense, and that way the parents don't ask the company questions...

Once you get the general story arc figured, then you still need to think about character arcs, and the point of the series...you know? is the point for the kids to play their way through the game and destroy it from the inside? Or does the company win and get their military contract, and the kids end up fighting in this war complete unaware...

you need to make something that sets the story apart from Reboot, Dot Hack and this weird gary paulsen book...something that is completely unique...something like...giant robots...you know? (okay, I'm kinding about the giant robots...but seriously, something unique...)

Noone said he shouldn't, we just offered improvement suggestions and advised a safer distance from cliches

Think most gave useful opinions; plus studios (unless you have your own studio to produce) will be more critical than the people in this forum.

At first I was interested but the whole concept: idea, story, characters, drawings need to be polished a lot more or re-thought.

Personally wouldn't invest in this venture if I had such chance, at least not yet.
Nevertheless keep going and you could make it, that's what I'll recommend.

Yea, what I was saying all along is, calling it 'anime' is shooting a bit far at present. Why not just call it anime-inspired fiction for the time being, write out a more complete story (or at least a detailed pilot), design characters in more detail, find some quicker ways of presenting it than actually animating - then showing it to people, polishing, and only after that trying to be as ambitious as hoping for it to be somewhere near real 'anime'.

I've actually been doing some similar anime-flavoured fiction-ing lately, minus the ambitions for it to be anything beyond just a good time writing for myself. I'm not arrogant enough to actually post it, since I don't think it's either of much interest/value to others, and I sort of suck at drawing

Are you gonna use 3-D? 3-D is cool.

However, unlike simple 2-d animation, proper-looking 3-D animation requires more as far as hardware goes. A lot more.

Besides... it really would seem a tad too shamelessly much like Re-boot that way
