From what I understand, Anime Weekend Atlanta is the major AMV convention. Heck, there's a 24-hour room for them, and last year there was a number of panels and related events going on. I don't know exactly where most other conventions rate on AMVs, though.

Animazement is the home con of the Sake Ninjas, though. That's a plus.

AWA's 24-hour AMVs are great. Nothing in the video game room was that interesting for me, so I wandered in and watched for about 2-3 hours till I was falling asleep. Still, it's rather memorable to be staring at a big screen around 3am, and then getting to vote if you want funny or depressing videos next. We chose depressing ones(and they were very depressing). Anyone remember that last year?

I was there this past May...it was fun, my first con ever. The AMV contest was pretty good, and the cosplay skits were really cool. Like Captain Tylor mentioned, I think AWA is the big one. Unfortunately, I won't be able to be there cause I'm a poor college student with no job. T_T

OH did anyone see the little boys that were dressed as Vash and Wolfwood from Trigun? Vash was so little he was in a stroller! They were soooo cute!
