I like the idea that was mentioned about a trend, good one! Maybe there is a low-key trend movement of wearing clothes like that. Vash would probably be attracted to that since Rem wore that kind of stuff.

Out of curiosity, why do you think it's abnormal for the setting? Most people in the series wear pretty general/basic Earth-type clothes. I never thought twice about her clothes.
He got smacked because he was trying to put the moves on her, kiddo. As he does about 18 other times to other random chicks in the series.
And she doesn't smack him "on camera" on the DVD either. That wasn't cut out for AS. Sometimes it's just a directorial choice and not TEH EEEEEVIL censors.

I still say it looked like her image was shifting more than Vash and the rest of the environment from the whole episode.

Random comment
this is totally a nonsequitor (not sure if I spelt that right) But am I the only one who thinks that the girl looks 13 years old? Kinda creepy. (Naughty Vash... what a little perv!) Just thought I would mention that. It bothered me the first time I saw that episode. Although, it kinda fits, because throughout the entire episode he was being a perv. Good ol' Vash.
