Post by android21 » Sun Sep 05, 2004 8:47 pm

Anyone notice that scenes and segments in anime and manga are sometimes really diffrent from eachother?

Tell us about any yuo've seen.
if it kicks ass i like it.

An excellent example would be the Ah! My Goddess manga and anime. Part of the OVA has a parallel in the manga, and part doesn't seem to. The movie is a drasticly changed plot arc.

Hellsing would be a better example IMHO, after the 1st 1.5-2 volumes, the anime and the manga don't even resemble each other. In the manga, the enemy consists of vampires, werewolves, and mad scientists that also happen to be Nazis (no really!), and are really ticked off at the Brits, while I believe in the anime it was a corporation that wanted to resurrect a demon (been a while since I've seen the anime).
On the other hand, the Berserk anime follows the manga very closely, the changes are primarily either due to time, events foreshadowed things that wouldn't happen until after then end of the anime (So no Prak or Skull Knight), or simply far too graphic for the anime (I can understand why they decided not to have child Gatts getting raped by Donavan, which is why Gatts hated being touched at the start of the anime).

I just love it when manga-based animes don't follow the manga. :D

hmm I have one of the Trigun Maximum books, it looks WAAAAAY too close to the Anime, I don't think I'll be buying any more of those...

some animes have scenes that are EXACTLY the way they were in the manga, like in Love Hina where, [*possible spoiler?*just putting these tags up so i don't get in trouble] Motoko is fighting her sister in the hot springs, the scene where she comes up behind her is pretty much exact![*possible spoiler?*just putting these tags up so i don't get in trouble]

There are some manga and animes that are way off like Real bout high school. the only matches i can think of in the first volume on both is when ryoko fights azumi kiribayashi

Really? that's a shame.

You should keep getting them though, just wait tilll you see Double Fang Trip of Death :P

I have Trigun 1-2, and Trigun Maximum 1-9, and Young King Ours Sept. 03 - Aug. 04 (soon Sept. 04).
The Trigun manga is simmilar in places, but after about vol. 2 of Maximum it gets drastically different. IMO Trigun Maximum is awesome and worth it.

well the manga and the anime are a bit diffrent becuse it's not always the orignal artist and writer working on both. ex:shaman king and yu yu hakusho. (sk)horo horo was intridused in the manga first as a opponent in the anime he was yhos frind. (yyh) when heai gave yuske the tape for the rescue of yukena the manga had a fight between two look alikes.
Only time I say no is if someone asks if I've had enough.
