New anime series: G.I. Joe!

Reader Mekk Z has sent us confirmation regarding an item we've been hearing rumours about for the past month. On August 10th, GDH, the parent company of Gonzo, announced that it would be animating a G.I. Joe OVA. Full details regarding the project, and the nature of the script have not yet been released.

didn't seem to be, it was very americana from what i remember. I toys were the best (in 1985).

nope...can't get excited about a GI Joe anime...

It's kinda like having the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the Anime section at Best Buy...doesn't make sense.

I know this is off topic, but I feel a little nostalgic now. Since so many of the cartoons, or animes, whatever, are coming back from the 80's, has anyone heard anything about thundercats or the smurfs (dvd or new)? Those are #1 and #2 on my list from that time.

Gi joe was an american cartoon. In england and the rest of the world the toys were called Action force!. Anyway the tv show was never good as the comic and the movie was downright stupid. I have no idea what the new Gi joe stuff is about it's probably not that bad the only Gi joe I don't like is the adventure team stuff from the 70's

They also made a newer version a couple years ago, where their base was a moving island.

Needless to say it only lasted a season.

Truly GI Joe wasn't that cool back then but I sure liked the woman in the squad. She kicked butt and had a little something with the blond one, I think.
The ninja rocked, sadly the characters were better than the show itself.
But since it's an anime this time, It'll probably be better now.
The 80's revival is in full swing, getting nostalgic over here because it's weird seeing little kids like the same thing you did over two decades ago.

Oh well.
