Nah. Not more than being any other kind of student.

It is, however, hard to not irritate others this way

Trying to have a conversation with meaning here and the thread still gets infected.

Damn, by the gods you people are ruthless, alright I was going to explain myself, but since its all conjecture anyways I might as well shut up, cant say I wasn’t expecting it.

Oh well, shows how little I know.

it’s from a linguistically POV.

Don't worry about it. I don't suppose '4th Year Advanced Grammar' is on everyone's class list. It's just like dwchang and AMD - an unfair advantage through hands-on, in depth experience.

BTW, it's still a discussion of something that isn't completely set in stone or inarguable, so anything you've got to say is most welcome. It's all just logic anyway.

Anyways, it's not like I'm really arguing any particular side here. I'm just trying to explain why we might say 'anime' or 'animes' the way we do, and where the word probably comes from - not whether it's right or not.

I bet, whatever I say - at least 80% of the people say 'anime' in an english sort of manner, and a good 50 or 60% go with 'animes' as plural. I dunno if they're wrong 'linguistically' (if there is such a thing), but they're probably the majority - and the majority is never wrong

(um... I'm scared how this place has gotten all 'grown-up' all of a sudden)
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

It's my fault! I'm so sorry.

:P Nah not really, meant all I've say since running my mouth isn't my thing.

PS: My comment wasn't for you especifically Duke MadThain. Hell, I don't know to who it was directed.

Who cares?

Here's a quick Latin question: Assuming 'anime' entered the Japanese lexicon from France, What is the correct pluralization in Latin?

What?

To my knowledge the word anime doesn't exist in Latin.

French is just an offspring of Latin; just like Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.

Plurals in Latin? Oh my.

no one in particular, I can understand how people feel, I did post were I shouldn’t have. Having no experience in the subject matter at all.

just saying a simple "your right/wrong but this isn’t what were talking about" would have been enough, kinda felt like everybody was jumping down my neck. I can see how it would be a pain when just about ever noob does that, little patience please, ill get the hang of forums eventually. I’ll be considerate and post less next time, or read, whatever works.

I believe the Latin root is 'anim', meaning 'life or spirit'.

So, a bit of research would seem to say that according to Latin rules, anime would pluralize to animete. But I know very little about Latin, so I don't trust this.

However, considering the normal use of similar sounding words in English, 'anime' would seem to be both singular and plural.

Although, as bit of googling pointed something out to me: the word 'anime' hasn't been in the English language for a standard pluralization to become established yet.
