video and audio not matching up in playback

Post by wiserd » Mon Aug 30, 2004 10:24 am

Hey, I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my vid. I have to have all other applications closed for it to work right. And my computer is FAST. Or was when I got in a few years ago. +2Ghz. 1 gig MEMORY. And Hard Disk space for paging. I get a lot of complaints that my video and audio "don't match up." But they do! I timed it very carefully.

If anyone could help, I'd be appreciative.

width 640
height 480
audio
duration 3:51
bit rate 48kbps
audio format MPEG Layer-3

Video
Frame rate 29 frames/second
Data rate 198 kbps
Video sample size 24 bit
video compression DivX codec

File size 44.8 MB ( and a larger one around 65 MB with more footage)

Questions? Comments? Deep thoughts? All are welcome.
Thanks for your help!

P.S. what does 'create an open DML version 2.0 compatible file do' I mean, is there any advantage to unchecking it this box and making a video which is NOT open DML version 2.0 compatible?

Interesting. What should I encode as? The clips I'm working with are in HUFFYUV. Is that what you mean by working with lossesss?

no...he means you should export as huffyuv
next, have you exported both the audio and the video from the timeline?
this might have caused it
and try using xvid...it's better than divx

No, he DID mean that you should be using HuffYUV clips... read his post again.

Anyway, a 640x480 DivX video at 29.97fps might be too much for some people's computers to handle. You might want to try reducing the resolution and seeing if you still get complaints.

Try 512x384 or 448x336.

It could also be problems with post-processing. I've noticed that a lot with some of my own and others I've downloaded. Just recommend that people shut that crap off before watching your vid. Dropping the res might also be a good idea, like everyone else has said.
