Wouldn't it just make more sense to limit the number of banner submissions per day? I mean, seriously, I see some of these screwballs uploading like 3, 4, 5, 6, hell sometimes upwards of TEN banners a DAY! o_O

And you know they're all from the same person cause half of em look almost EXACTLY the same.

If you put a lmiter on it though it'd force a lot of these screwballs into actually refining their work a little until they produce ONE single banner that's good quality. When you've got 3 banners though that all look alike...yeah, you know there wasn't any effort put into it. If you can churn out near identical copies like a factory churns out cans of Coke...you're fucking up.

Since yesterday there is a limit so that people can only have 3 banner submissions at any one time. The banners are generally checked once a day and (since the new banner page has gone up) we get around 30/40 a day.

So, given we get so many we felt that we could be a bit more strict about quality.

I'm hoping that this 30/40 a day thing is just a fad since the new banner page has been visible... but we'll see.

This is getting a little out of hand. I make it a policy to vote down anything that comes up whining about opinions, but when a banner additionally complains about the stringency of the banner process, the immediate conclusion is that we are headed pell-mell for the Twilight Zone.

Shouldn't complaining about ops, banner policies, etc, fall under negativity? If these are really for the purposes of advertising the site, it's not much of an inducement to proclaim that the site's members are divided between people who consume others' creative product without giving anything in return and people who get obsessive about being ignored by such.

I think that particular banner is a tough call on "negativity", so I let it through if only to see it prove its own point by being voted unworthy

Some of the whiny ops ones are rejected, but not all ops banners are phrased like that - many are "please give me ops" begging banners.

Personally I'd rather not disallow every single opinions based banner because sometimes the banners might actually be pretty decent. I'd rather people just voted them unworthy.

I mean, that's not exactly hard to do - very few of these sorts of banners get voted worthy. I'd rather the mass public decide on something like this than have the admins do it - especially in case a really good one appears.
