Outside of Premeire pro not working on 2000 (big whoop), I've heard nothing to dissagree with that point. It really depends on who you ask, but now I'm wandering.

I wasn't up with you on ANY point of that.

Have NO idea WHY the rips were getting screwed up once I updated to XP service pack 2 (which happened half way during this week of ripping DVDS) All I know is once it was updated, I started getting error messages on the rips. It's frustrating as hell.

As to why. I'm not the computer expert, never would argue I am. But the people I asked told me I was right, It's the service pack. Research I did, (which was asking the people I know that know computers) tell me that XP2 has been getting a LOT of bad buzz for messing up computers. The advice they are giving, is if you have updated to XP2, do a system restore as soon as possible, or talk to someone who knows what they are doing about it. You can seriously mess up your computer if you just try to do an "unistall" with this thing.

All I know is whatever problem I was having, went away when I removed the service pack, but not without losing all that work. It sucks!

I was with you up to this point. Can't you just delete the bad rips with good rips and continue your video? After all, this is basically what the switching method of editing does. As long as the rips timecodes are the same whatever editing program you use wouldn't know the difference.

Well, it is true; there's a bunch of programs like Premiere Pro not working there; of course, since I'm a happy 6.5 user (who has neither money nor practical motivation to upgrade) that has no bearing on me. I can't get a recent patch/mod for one of my games, too, since it requires 2000/XP. Hmm, seriously, pro doesn't even take 2000 though?

Anyway, if you consider how much more alternative software older-version windows users seem to have compared to Linux or Mac when it comes to video editing (I haven't heard about things like Ulead or Vegas not working on older systems), I don't think it's such a huge factor.

It'll probably change when we get Longhorn, but that's still as much as 2 years away.

I HATE MAC!!!!!!!!! :x You cannot imagine the depth of HATE I have for MAC. HATE HATE HATE!!!

I used MAC one time in my life. When I was working at OSU, and I hated it so much then I swore I would NEVER own one. MAC SUCKS!!!! It's the most inefficient, UNUSER UNFRIENDLY, PAIN IN THE ROYAL ASS, I have EVER had the displeasure to use in my life!!!! Even Windows, when I still had to use the fricking DOS wasn't as bad as that stupid MAC! HELL, Windows DOS was a DREAM compared to that MAC.

You ever tried to do a mailing to 100s of people on your prof's mailing list with a stupid system that won't let you generate labels right from the LIST!!! NO!!!!!!! I had to set up a label program and then RETYPE THE LIST IN AGAIN, all one gajillion of them!!!!!!!! What kind of stupid system makes you retype in EVERY FREAKING LABEL!!!!!!!!!

MAC was as it always is. Made to do great fun things at home, BUT IT SUCKS IN THE WORK PLACE!!!

Granted it was 1993 and I know things have improved, but for pete frickin sake, even Windows under DOS would have let me simply copy over the mailing list without having to retype the Son of a @@!@ in again!!!!!! It was a temporary job for about one month before I was transferred to another department, but by the end of it, I hated that MAC with a purple passion. One damn month it took me to do that stupid mailing list. NO mailing list should EVER take that long!

Don't bring back bad memories. As you can tell, I'm not over them. 8)

I am a confirmed, lifetime MAC hater. :x

I downloaded Service Pack 2. I am having no problems, and I love it.

On top of that, I love bees. Would you like a Starbucks Frappuccino?

Wow.

I was going to tell you to give Macs another chance, as they have improved GREATLY since 1993, but appearently you're too closed-minded to accept that fact.

Oh well...

I've been hearing good things recently, anyway. Aren't they already gone 64-bit, those macs?

I still think they're an over-expensive luxury for the elites... But hey, quite a few of my favorite musicians use them, even on stage. They must be good then, right?

Back on topic.
Some tips you should know.

1) Never have automatic updates on.
why? Because it downloads shit you dont need. ie: If you dont use the
microsoft jounal then why download it?
Same goes for IE. Why would you want to use it in the first place?
2) Before you install sp2 you should have restored your hdd anyway :P
3) After installing sp2 you should have turned on the firewall, set the anti-virus to go stuff yourself and then told the automatic updates to go fourth and multiply.

You have successfully installed sp2.

If you follow these steps carefully you will have no problems making amv's Im working on one and i have had NO problems at all. Actually my codecs are working better now :P lol nah j/k

Windows has generated errors and will now close. Thank you for using Microsoft :)
