For me it is when this guy nearly died at the end of Gundam 08th ms team or when i thought Heero killed himself when he self destructed(how he survived that is beyond me) or in the movie X where in the end he cut his best friends head off and started crying with the guys head in his hand.theres so many sad moments i cant remember them all.

An odd one, but:
Excel Saga wrote:In episode 24, Excel returns to Ilpalazo, but can't get in. She pounds her fists on the door until they bleed. Then Ilpalazo comes out, she does her Hail Ilpalazo thing, but he shoots her. Just like that. Perhaps it was the contrast from funny to sad that made it even more so, but who knows.

Or perhaps I'm just reading too much into the scene. The part in Dragon Half where Mink realizes that in order to pursue her dream she must sell her body to desperate men who look on her as a mindless drone who only exists to satisfy their lust. The pathos of her conflict between her self respect and her hopes for the future was excellent drama and her attempts to declare that she was a living feeling person instead of just a mindless recepticle for men's seed stuck a deep chord in me. I'm sure most of us have at one point fought others preconceptions and have stood in a bold, but futile, attempt to declare their own self worth and Dragon Half was, truely, the best attempt to carry that emotion in an anime.

**SPOILERS**
To me it's the end of the X movie. Kamui lost everything: Having to kill your best friend is not great; before that everyone dies.
When they both (Fuma/Kamui) advance on eachother and Fuma's sword breaks, Kamui beheading him.
Kamui screams FUMAAA and then X-Japan's "Forever Love" starts.
Now someone tell me that isn't depressing.
