music exchange [songs you want videos made to]

Post by road_rash » Thu Aug 19, 2004 2:55 pm

This is a little bit like the "what are you listening to right now?" post, but different. You put a song that's not that often used, and you explain why it would be a good song to use for a music vid. I'm a little busy right now so I'll be back with an example if someone doesn't get what I mean later.

there's an entire section devoted to anime music video suggestions.

I wasn't sure which place would be better, and I thought that since you don't really have to specify which anime could be used and ur only mentioning the music, this would be better.

Well, it's in Suggestions now. :)

Here's one that deserves a video:

They Might Be Giants - Ana Ng

This is a kind of fractured love song, and one of my personal favorites. It soulds so lighthearted, but it's actually coming across with a deep message (to me, at least), which is "If everyone has that one special person just for them, what happens when your special someone is Ana Ng and she lives in some Southeast Asian country that you'll likely never visit?"

I've always pegged it for a different kind of Love Hina video, one that doesn't focus on Keitaro getting punched, or even on the romance between Keitaro and Naru. It would focus on them never getting together at all....never even being in the same scene at the same time (through some deliberate use of masking, perhaps, or just careful scene selection).

Oh, crap, not supposed to talk about the anime choice....actually, this song would proably work for just about any romance-type show, from Tenchi to SaiKano.
Life's short.

suggestion: Anberlin - Foreign Language

it's just a rockin' song that i was gonna make an amv out of, but i'm just not talented enough to pull it off. i really like it because it's pretty funny and is a good relationship song. so, if you were lookign for songs to consider, take a look (or listen) to this one.

Someone needs to do "Do you love me (now that I can dance?!) !!! Some lines oughta be lipsynched I think. Prolly some romantic comedy type things, I'm seeing things like Ranma, Kenshin, Love Hina, etc. Guys trying to get the girl and throwin in a few dance steps. You can have some fun while the music lists some of the odd dances, (Do the mashed potato! Do the twist! Now tell me baby, Do you like it like this?)

Also, anything Beatles - I'd love to see songs like "Strawberry Fields," "Penny Lane," "I am the Walrus," or "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" done right. I'd do Penny Lane but I need help casting the characters.

heh, alright, I guess it's also good here. My suggestion is the song Requiem by Snot featuring Corey of slipknot. It's 1 of the few heavy metal song I listen to. The reason it could make a good music vid is cause of the lyrics:

We were ready for anything
We were ready for anything

Everyone has some pain
I see the loss every time someone says your name
When you know someone who shines hard
A soul of the age who doesn`t care
who the f**k you are
You had a friend, a brother who was everything
but he had to go away...that was yesterday
I`ve lost a lot of people in my time
the good, the bad, the unreal,
and the ones who shine
So I know you all understand
When I say that until they left
We were ready for anything
We were ready for anything
We were ready for anything...but this

You are not gone
We keep you here inside us
You are not gone
We know you`re still beside us
You are not gone
We have the light you gave to us

Now it`s time to lay to rest our friend
and through these songs
His memory will never f**king end
We still see that
Through this we`ll shed some light on you
Until the day you left us

We were ready for anything
We were ready for anything
We were ready for anything...but this

You are not gone
We keep you here inside us
You are not gone
We know you`re still beside us
You are not gone
We have the light you gave to us

Why`d you have to go? We never had a chance
I can`t believe it so I won`t admit it
Life ain`t shit without you in it

You are not gone
We keep you here inside us
You are not gone
We know you`re still beside us
You are not gone
We have the light you gave to us

Everybody says the light that shines the brightest
burns out fast
But what they never say is
all the light they gave us lasts
We hold the memories and cherish
everyday we had
But we would give it up in a second
just to have you
BACK!!!

Just let your imagination run. It could be some real good music for a death scene. The main characters think thier invincible (we were ready for anything), but then someone dies unexpectedly (...but this). They sort of go into denial, or something along those lines (you are not gone...). Like I said, let your imagination run.

Nathan Fake - "Overdraft"

Really, good song, techno(trance).

Very moody, no lyrics and very difficult to find (on cd, every place I've seen it only had it on vinyl).
It's a challenge to make a good AMV with this, and I dare someone to make it!

KMFDM - "Spit Sperm"

Before you go "eww", this is actually a good song. Starts kinda slow, but it builds a bit, and then gets really good at 3:26 (it's like a 6 minute song).
At that time it gets a heavy drumbeat going and then a really good guitar solo.

lyrics:
"Spit Sperm"

I keep account of my hits and my misses
The bottle makes the final call
Fuel me with some of your kisses
Turn towards the weeping wall
Distilled withing your discipline
Return to go and start again
Bleeding on your hallowed ground
I'm gonna lay this sodden soul right down in...

Spit sperm spit

Your tv is my teacher
Confessional and preacher
Forgive me lord for all this hate
I simply am inebriate

See the gun
Pick it up
All day long you'll have good luck
See the gun let it lie
You'll want that gun before you die

Spit sperm
This moral bankrupt stinking vat
Spit sperm
Of shit fueled lies and empty highs
Spit sperm
Bled between these piss stained lines
Spit sperm
And hid behind my glazing eyes

Orgy - "Stitches"

Simply becuase no one else has been able to (the few that are lsited on here are either poorly constucted, or the download doesn't work).

"Stitches"

If it stayed i'd never leave it
If that turned around
I'd grieve the special dirty things that we used to talk about
I mean that loving you is strange
And adored by me throughout oh no it's you again
Someday soon you'll find that someone
Waiting for the chance to beat you
Drooling on the set to feel you
Blessing you with every kiss

Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill
Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill

Such the patient one who needs me
The spoiled one who wins
So shocking where's your sense
Don't you know i hate you, ohoh
Unsatisfied,you little girl.

Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill
Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill

Rolling dice and seeming queer
Bastard love,a sick affair
Let's see what new disease you'll fetch
I mean that fucking you is strange
And adored by me throughout
Oh no it's you again
Blessing you with every kiss

So precious you know this hate of mine exploded
I'm so deranged you know
I will never be the same

Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill
Tying yourself to me
Stitch up my emptiness cause your the death of me
So precious loving the thrill
The Big O will KILL you!

Sousaphonist: So you're not going to use this song? I can take it? I loved it! Now I just need to grab some borrowed DVDs... :?
