Tales of Phantasia OVA

Post by angelx03 » Tue Aug 03, 2004 10:30 pm

This is some of the information I got:

http://www.optigamer.com/news/?id=763

...and this is supposedly the release dates of the OVA, but I don't know how reliable it is:

Nonetheless, this is something to look forward to since the RPG game seriously rocks. :D

Whoa!

I gotta tell my brother, he's playing that game now (again!)

He's a huge fan, that's where he got the name (cless).

That should be exciting. I hope I see it, eventually...
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I remember them announcing this was coming a really long time ago. I hadn't heard anything since, and assumed that the project had died. I'm glad to see it didn't, I absolutely adored the game.

That is WICKED SICK :o

I remember playing ToP initially in 1999 on the PC [the SFC Untranslated ROM], and the sort of 'anticipation' I had for several years, going to the DeJap website, and trying to see how far they have progressed with their translation project.

This is probably biggest and greatest sudden shocker I got since the English Patch for the game came out [was it 4 years ago?]. Rock on angelx03, you just made my day, hell, my month of august.

This is better than...

I heard about this I think maybe a year ago (the OAV).

Played and completed it ages ago, what a sweet game. Managed to find an ISO of it for the PSone also, good times :)

This is one OAV I'll definately be watching, I've been waiting since I played the games :D

Oh yeah, this should be awesome, especially if the original character designer has some input, he's the dude that designed Ah My Goddess 8) (Can't remember his name >.<, someone help me out here; I'm sure I'll kick myself. The name is almost there, just can't think).

Here's hoping for a western DVD release, but hey the chances are slim at best :(

------------------

Kosuke Fujishima! I was just looking on the IMDB and his name was there. I knew it, just couldnt recall it.

Perhaps someone could check the opening credits of the SNES rom please? I would do it myself, but I've lost nearly everything in a crash, going to see if I can recover my RAID tonight though :)

Yep. Fujishima did the character design for the SNES and PSX versions. I wondered why Mint in the PSX opening movie reminded me so much of a blonde Belldandy.

The music will hopefully still be done by Motoi Sakuraba (of Star Ocean fame). He did the music for the anime adaptation of Star Ocean (Star Ocean EX), and has done the music for the entire Tales series up to and including the most recent Tales of Symphonia, so he'll likely be tapped for this OVA set as well.

OMG, TEH NECROPOST! :|

Ok, remember that I mentioned that I was unsure about the reliability of the release dates? Well, it's official!

First episode premieres 11/25/2004. :P

In the mean time, enjoy this website of which I can't understand a thing:

Interesting....

No announcement of the composer, but apparently the character designer and main animation director is Matsutake Noriyuki, who was also the animation director for the first half of the AMG OVAs and an animator on .hack//Legend of the Twilight.

The animation company is a new one to me. I haven't seen anything else that Actus has done, though I think their style looks like older JC Staff titles.

Wasn't Actus the one who animated the video game Thousand Arms?
