Difficulty Editing?

My biggest difficulty would lie with either action or effects-type videos. When I envision a video, I think about scene placement, story, and flow. Making it look nicer would be good, but for me, the instinct on which effects would be most appropriate and where they should be used just doesn't come naturally. I can see what I'd like the finished video to look like, but as for implementing the right tools to get it that way, that's a bit trickier.

Drama videos are the toughest for me because I usually spend years at my computer to decide the arrangement of 5 seconds. I'm always wanting to do bigger better more more and I really have to fight that instinct.

my only problem is making videos that are good, i have the sucky amvs genre down....

I'd probably say that I suck the most at doing character profiles. I have a hard enough time I.D.'ing character profiles when it's other editor's videos (except in those cases that it's blatantly obvious), and the early ones I 'attempted' so to speak - in other words, threw together in an afternoon and labelled as such - probably aren't really.

I have one in the planning stages, but I need to get the Eva Platinum discs before I try it

Other than that, I'd say effects-heavy vids aren't even something I can attempt right now - aside from applying a blanket filter like I did for one of my videos, I can't do squat. It probably doesn't help I can't make heads nor tails of After Effects, either. It doesn't really matter much to me anyway; I'd much rather stick to plain presentation with strong story and emotional evocation than trying to blind my audience. Not to say I won't attempt it when I get more experienced, though. I have a couple ideas of songs to use that practically require splashy effects to make such a video even work decently.

Romance, Drama, and Dance. I have little to no experience with these genres. For me, it's something to work on. Just not right now.
