The video keeps chopping up!

Post by Baku Ryu-Ha » Wed Aug 11, 2004 11:04 pm

I finally got to start downloading today, and when I played the AMV, it was chopping up, and stopping at some parts! The music was fine though. I know its not the AMV, its my computer, or maybe somethings wrong with my windows media player? My friend can play the AMVs just fine on her media player. But mine, chops up and stops. Can some one plz help me?

I'm not really sure how old my computer is, but I do know that it's old. My windows media player is from 2000, so, I know that thing is old. Im updating the media player now though. I hope it plays the AMV like it should play it.

The media player shouldn't really have anything to do with it... anything that plays fine in WMP6.4 ("mplayer2" from Run... on the Start menu) should play fine in WMP7/8/9 as well.

How fast is your CPU? How much RAM do you have? Etc.

If you're using Windows XP, you can right-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and select "Properties". The specs for your machine should be under the registration info.

Memory: 64.0 MB of RAM
System Resources: 48% free
File System: 32-bit
Virtual Memory: 32-bit
Disk Compression: Not installed
PC Cards (PCMCIA): No PC card sockets are installed.

I'm impressed you can view this website....whew, that's an old computer.

Nothing I can say, though....the videos on this site tend to be compressed in high-compression MPEG4 formats (DivX and XviD). These need more modern computers to handle them.

In simpler terms...your computer is too old for any video that has a filename that ends in .avi, most likely. Stick with ones with either a .mpg or .wmv at the end of the name until you can get your hands on a better computer....:(
Life's short.
