What would be your ultimate Metal Festival line up?

Post by Iced Earth Fan » Tue Aug 10, 2004 11:11 pm

If you could create your own Metal Festival, which, and how many bands would be preforming at the gig? And what would the name of the festival be? My festival's name would be: The Tears Of Darkness. Here's what my line up would be:

Iced Earth
Blind Guardian
Nightwish
Dragon Force
Evergrey
Iron Maiden
Penumbra
Dimmu Borgir
Cradle Of Filth
Darkwell
Tristania
Demon's & Wizards
Hammerfall
Steel Prophet
Lacuna Coil
Kamelot
Rhapsody

Festival Name: US>EVERYONE ELSE LOL!!!111

Gamma Ray
Stormwarrior
Rhapsody
Sonata Arctica
Manowar
Edguy
Blind Guardian

in that order...start with a bang, end with a bang

we could all list every band we ever heard or heard of.....but then it would become a list of bands you like...rather than the perfect metal show you'd remember till the day you DIED a HORRIBLE METAL DEATH

/end
Oh how convenient. A theory about God that doesn't require looking through a telescope.

HEAVY METAL SUMMER CAMP

A week in the woods with excessively loud music

The festival is divided between three stages: main stage, water stage, and cult stage. The main stage is your conventional field setup, a stadium's worth of hard-packed earth ringed with beer tents and portajohns. The water stage is set out on a wooden floating dock extending into the lake, with a natural amphitheater buit into the shore facing it. The cult stage is in a large adirondack shelter on top of one of the hills, requiring a long climb through dark forests to reach the smallish clearing.

Sunday is drive-in day; the bands got in overnight, and the roadies are busy setting up staging, unboxing pyro, and working out who is borrowing whose gear when as the fans start to come in, producing an unbroken five-mile line of beat-up vans, minibuses, old RVs, pickup trucks with beds full of thrashers, and dust-covered Camaros wending their way over the dirt road to the parking lots. Band members pick around, meeting up with old friends and bumming beers off tailgaters.

The live music starts at 2 PM on the first day on the main and water stages, and 4 PM on the cult stage, to give people a chance to put up their tents somewhere in the woods and walk to the venues. All bands except the night's headliners on each stage get 90-minute sets, and 30 minutes of setup/soundcheck time, which helps to ensure adequate time to get from one stage to the next. Closers play until the crowd breaks up.

If you wouldn't want to be in at least two places at once at least half of the time at this fest, you are not metal.

Our province has Big Valley Jamboree (Country), Stage 13 (for rock bands),so I would have mine called Stage 666, like the others this one would be a 4 day event in Camrose Alberta Canada (I doubt it would be in Fort Mac, my city wouldn't know metal even if you shoved a sword up its ass.).

1st Day
SoulFly
Evergrey
Blind Guardian
DIO
Judas Priest
Alice Cooper

2nd Day
Kittie
Kamelot
KMFDM
Megadeth
Iced Earth (both Barlow and Ripper for their respective songs, maybe both on some songs)
Motorhead (with Wurzel)

3rd Day
Slipknot
Ministry
Anthrax
The Scorpions
Slayer
Iron Maiden

4th Day
Threshold
Fear Factory
Nightwish
Rollins Band/Black Flag
Sepultura
AC/DC (in a perfect world both Bon and Brian together doing their respective songs)

I know Rollins Band, The Scorpions, KMFDM, and AC/DC are not metal but I dont care.
