Need Codec Help

Post by Charagon » Sun Aug 08, 2004 3:08 pm

Got a new computer but now I've lost all those nifty codecs I've accumulated over the years.

Can somebody link me to essential codec packages?

codec packs are bad... the codecs you will most likely need to view amvs are

xvid: http://www.roeder.goe.net/cgi-bin/fetch ... 062004.exe

and

divx: www.divx.com

anything else video editing wise can be foud in the amvapp here on this site.

Actually Pwolf, I have one codec package that has a lot of really good ones to use. It gives you like 20 different ones or something like that. Plus, it's sometimes good to experiment with different codecs if file size is an issue for you.

well the reason i say they are "bad" is cause they also install spyware and have been known to cause problems in other peoples computers... and usually it's best to only install what you need.

Yeah, I agree with you there. Most of the time I only use two anyway. But, sometimes it can't hurt to have back-ups ^_^

All an editor really 'needs' is FFDShow for playback of damn near anything, Xvid, HuffYUV 2.1.1, and maybe an Mjpeg codec like PivVideo.
