re-makes?

Post by odian0 » Fri Aug 06, 2004 6:25 pm

so, i wanted to know, is it a common practice to re-make your amv? i was just wondering because i got a lot of comments on my 99 Orchestrations video, and they all mentioned de-inerlacing and the like. so, i guess my question is: should i bother to re-make a video or just let it be?

if you feel it needs to be remade, remake it... if you like the idea you had, but know that you didnt have the skill when you first made the vid... then yah. go ahead and remake it...

Just remember to re-interlace this time

Depends on if you want to spend the effort on it or not. Fixing the interlacing issues would definately improve the video quite a bit but it's up to you if you want to fix it or just learn from it and move on.

i'd like a chance to fix it, but would amv dot org let me upload the same video twice? or would i have to make it different enough for them to count it again?

I think they let you do that, ask them to delete the one that's up so you can upload the remastered verison, just remember that all the original scores and ops will still be there. And while I'm perfectly willing to go back and re-evaluate(bump up your score) others might not have the time.

It's <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... allowed. If you make ANY change other than quality issues then it's a remix and should be listed seperately. If the ONLY thing you do is fix quality issues then request the original be deleted and upload the new better quality version in it's place. In your case I'd imagine fixing the interlacing would be a quality issue but if you take the oportunity to do something about the subtitles or any other minor things like that then it'd probably be a remix.

If you go the delete and upload a better quality version let me know and I'll modify my op for the new version.

Go and re-do it. If you want you can make it as a new entry. Like me, my first vid was good but it was poorly done, so I re-made it and called it a Director's Cut. OK it may sound unnecessary but I am very proud of the result.

This seems like a good place to ask a question that's been puzzling me.

I've started re-making one of my earliest vids becuase I've gotten better, and gotten hold of extremely better quality source material.

For the most part, I'm keeping it pretty much the same, but I'm replacing some stills with motion clips, adding a few special effects, and here and there changing real short scenes.

My original vid I have on a Direct download only. Should I make a new listing? I figure this remake will be as it should have been done. I think I'd rather keep it with the old ops.
