what if you enjoy doing something that you haven't seen in an AMV before?
And ryan, please, my forte action/drama.![]()

I did some stuff close to that with Forever, basically reanimation techniques to create scenes that didn't exist in the series. In the future it'd be neat to actually see some complete reanimation. Possibly using the South Park style of 3D animation (where it looks 2D even though it's constructed in a 3D environment). Also similar to the game play environment in the Playstation game Dark Cloud II. Then you could REALLY go hog wild with ideas.AbsoluteDestiny wrote:Animating the whole thing yourself is the last place to go and it wont be long before its done as there's already been videos with aspects of this.
The other big step is with the music. I believe that my Chrno Crusade video when it's done will help people to realize a whole new realm of possibilities. In fact someone really ought to start putting a guide together on how to install the kareoke winamp plugin and various techniques and so forth to use for making your own music/songs.
So far with the kareoke stuff I've found that it's best to break it all up into segments. Don't try and record all the lyrics at once, just do a couple parts and then you can layer it all up in Premiere or whatever to produce the final version. That way you can concentrate on saying just a few lines perfectly and you don't need to worry about running out of breath or anything (cause every lil thing lke that gets picked up on the mic).
Thing of it is though, this is all just TECHNICAL stuff. A REALLY GREAT AMV isn't all just about the technical side, it's also about the emotional side. Which is why despite some of the neat effects I did in my Forever AMV, I consider it to be absolute crap on the emotional level because it just doesn't convey the feelings quite right. Personally I'd rather watch a feeling AMV than a technical one. The trick is to try and COMBINE the two and find the perfect harmony, which I don't believe has every been truly done to the point where anyone can say, "There's no where left to go."
The other thing to keep in mind is that new anime series are coming out ALL THE TIME! One of the things I've noticed in this commuity is a rather large amount of stagnation when it comes to AMVs. You see COUNTLESS NGE vids, Cowboy Bebop vids, DBZ vids, etc, etc, but you hardly ever seen any (or none) REALLY good ROD TV AMVs...Chrno Crusade, Maburaho, Mahou Shoujotai, Wild Arms, Ai Yori Aoshi, Noir, Onegai Twins, the list of potentially untapped series just goes on and on and on and on!
Seriously, you look at a decent editor like ErMaC and his profile is just FILLED with one NGE video after another. And after awhile it's just like...bored now. Really, doesn't matter how good you are, if you don't do anything new, it just gets tedious. One of the reasons I liked ErMaC's "Lonely Miracle" AMV so much was because, *gasp*, *shock*, OMG HE USED AN ANIME SERIES THAT HASN'T ALREADY BEEN DONE TO DEATH! o_O
Variety is the spice of life peeps, learn to diversify, think outside the box. Hell, burn the fuckin box and take a gander at what's down the street, it's a hell of a lot more exciting!

Someone just shoot me please.
Over a period of 3 hours yesterday, while moving feed sacks around I think I finally discoevered how to acheive effects even greater then Koop's. However, the process for just one overlay can take 3 ours on my comp. 512 RAM a small tutorial I created for myself on how to make a moving circle with moving sepia's around it.
0. Open the program (Some people are DENSE. can take between 1-20 minutes)
1. Put the clip in.
2. Put a black circle overlay over it so that the rest is cut off. (Depends on if you get the circle right on the first try. Sometimes you have to go back and create a new one)
3. Output the video(Depends how long the clip is)
4. Put the clip in again.
5. Put a sepia tone on it
6. Create another overlay of two squares rotating around the circle. (This will probably take 30 - 45 minutes. The squares must be white, the background black)
7. Output the production. (10 minutes)
8. Take the circle clip and put it on the main outline, then take the moving square's and put them on the overlay line.
9. Set the Luma Key on the overlay line to take off dark colors.
10. There you go, you now have a 5 second overlay finished.
Did Koop go through this for every clip

Umm, you do know that various programs have layers which means you don't have to go through the export/re-import process don't you?Pyle wrote:Koop's. Yes...and unfortunately I can't afford them. I'd like something to make my job easier, but I don't want to pay 200$ for it.godix wrote:Umm, you do know that various programs have layers which means you don't have to go through the export/re-import process don't you?Pyle wrote:Koop's.
