synching audio/video question
ok, i'm getting ready to lock myself away for as long as it takes to make the best possible amv i can. Already have great original idea in mind and have spent all my recent spare time learning premiere. anyway it seems that synching in a video is far more appreciated than "storytelling" so how best can i do this?
so far i was thinking of ,before adding any clips to adobe premiere, just going through and puttting up transitions that flash white and fade out fast at every point in the song where there is a beat. Then no matter if I try to synch up a big hit to the beat or not, at least i'll have that flash.
I don't want to do this but I could do what i've seen in other videos and simply make every clip the length of a drumbeat, that way no matter what it synchs up.
anyways i could use some sych suggestions. thanks

The link doesn't work for me.
Anyways, what I do is place the audio into the timeline and scrub the timeline or use my arrow keys to find specific beats. When I find a beat I want to sync I try to find that point exactly and place the edit line there. Then I right click the timeruler and insert an unnumbered marker. I do this before laying any footage down. Then I go back and start editing. It looks something like this when I'm done. (Notice the markers on the time ruler)

Re: synching audio/video question
I getting a sense of the future and it's full of an op with a 3 on originality, effects, and effort and a single sentance of 'Oh god the flashes, the flashes. Mommy, please make the pain go away *whimper*'. Of all the methods of syncing possible this would probably be the worse method imaginable.basterd!! wrote:so far i was thinking of ,before adding any clips to adobe premiere, just going through and puttting up transitions that flash white and fade out fast at every point in the song where there is a beat. You know, at least for me, the old maxim still holds true - even in AMV's:
Explosions solve everything.
Trust me. Stuff blowing up on beat is the way
Other than that, nah - beat-sync is eye candy. You still need cohesiveness, if not interesting storytelling. Granted, explosions are still the best thing to happen to visual art...
