Because you get heaps of special features, you get the original japanese dub, the original english dub, and the new english dub (which is actually pretty fucking good as far as dubs go), you get remastered footage...cilu wrote:WHY???bum wrote:if you can (you should) try and get the special edition of akira.
Its basically just fuckin BETTER. And jeez, ive seen it going for the same if not less than the original version.

I would buy Akira and Ghost in the Shell; don't remember if I'd heard about Twilight of the Dark Master before.
If you can rent them before buying, much better.
Wait, I had heard about TOTDM...heard it was a piece of crap.
Also recomend Hellsing and Yami no Matsuei (if you don't mind shonen-ai).
Do what you want, hope you find that which you seek. 8)

I'm going to order Hellsing soon. And I found the special edition of Akira on DVD foe $40 at Best Buy. Unfortunatly I don't yet have enough money for it. I'll just get it with my birthday money since it's comming up. Also, whats so special about the special edition and what it Yami no Matsuei and shonen-ai?

Is that what you meant?DarkMassacre wrote:what is Yami no Matsuei and shonen-ai?

If so then, Shounen-ai (boy love). In a nutshell, it's an anime/manga that includes or is mainly based on a relationship between a male couple.
Yami no Matsuei (Decendents of Darkness) is a shounen-ai, if i'm not mistaken. I'm not too sure what its about, though (I've been wondering that myself. I think, from what I've seen, that it looks good) ^ ^'

Yami no Matsuei
I have Yami no Matsuei and it’s a great series of the supernatural-dark-creepy genre.
It has some level of shonen-ai but it's not yaoi. Meaning it has some MM interaction but no sex, plus the shonen-ai parts are more about possession and control.
It has 13 episodes and was just introduced to the western market as Descendants of Darkness. - shudders-
The dub is a dud, absolute sacrilege.
It's about the Shinigami or gods of death as the anime calls them. Spanning four storyline "arcs".
YNM has two protagonists: Kurosaki Hisoka (16) and Asato Tsuzuki (-).
One antagonist: Dr. Kazutaka Muraki.
This Muraki makes their lives a living hell....and they're dead already!
This is one of my favorites and with good reason: intrigue, lies, secrets, summons, darkness, and hidden pasts. Who needs more?
Hope this answers your question some. 8)
