Nightwish on major label

Post by Kai Stromler » Tue Jul 27, 2004 7:09 am

I'm not a huge fan of the band, but many around here are, and it appears that Once, the new CD, will be distroed on an as-yet undisclosed major in the USA.

No word on whether this is due to certain members' videos, or just a general surge of interest in female-fronted Euro acts, but in any case it's a certain Good Thing for heavy music.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.
CHOPWORK - abominations of maceration
skywide, armspread : forward, upward
Coelem - Tenebral Presence single now freely available

okays, so Night Wish isn't big here in the US but they will get big, not to sound like a complete Music Dork but i mean Evanescence had 2 CD's before fallen and then they hit it big, it might take Night Wish alittle longer or w/e to get big w/ the US of A ppl. I have their CD Once and its a cool CD but most ppl i know don't really like Opra Metal...as i call it. ^^

Maybe I'm getting the wrong impression, but at least among people I seem to know, Nightwish does seem to be popular enough - seems that way, anyway. I can't say I'm exactly in good touch with the mainstream.

Well, let's hope it does good things for them

And - tour kicks off in Toronto aug.16 - crud. Why do I have to be broke at times like these :?
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I'm going to see 'em in Chicago in August. They're playing at one of the best venues up there.

well that maybe true but w/ the ppl i talk to and hang out w/ have heard of them but have never heard their music. that was my point at least, that the ppl i know and talk to about music don't seem to know who they are. but they are a good band and it would rock if they went mainstream. ^.^

Nightwish is not popular. The only reason you're under the impression that they ARE popular is because people on this board form a tight knit social structure between us, and we post a LOT. Me, Shadow, Kai, Flint, Ruby, farlo.. we're all into Euro metal, and nightwish is just one of the better and more popular bands among those who fancy metal.

Oh, and Demon: Nightwish has been around since 1991. They've got 6 albums, and you're not the only one to deem it Opera Metal.. but most people now consider it more Rock than anything else.

August 16th it is, and I'll be there to greet them, and then off to Phoenix and CA to see them 4 more times. ;)
