err... but I still haven't bought all the pre-98 anime and games I wanted
So I'm flat-broke as ever.
Another circumstance that might eventually force me to upgrade is once new software/hardware stops being compatible with said OS.

I'm surprised you haven't reached that point yet. I can't even run Win98 on my current primary system. Not unless I wanna lose out on hyperthreading, NTFS file system, file sizes that span in the gigabyte range and even being able to just see my 250GB HDs.Otohiko wrote:err... but I still haven't bought all the pre-98 anime and games I wantedSo I'm flat-broke as ever.

Oh, I realize there are benefits now, but they're pretty optional. And actually, I've never had trouble with multi-gigabyte files; I've no intention of upgrading to a hyper-threading processor, or any processor in at least the next year and a half; and I'd be lucky to get my hands on even a 120-GB HD anytime soon.
I also heard Premiere Pro requires XP - or does it? I may be wrong.
Anyway, presently, I'm pretty happy so far. I couldn't afford any of those ultra-fancy things, nor do I need them.
In a couple of years, maybe.

lol this is late, but i'm on vacation ;p No its home edition, but home doesn;t have the Processes list like Pro does. thats what I ment. It does have the standard Task manager, but that doesn't always end the task (especially with Premiere) when it realy crashes badly. Alot of times I have to actually end the process (where it doesn't try to shut it down cleanly, just kills it.)Scintilla wrote:Um yeah, I was about to say the same thing... I'm running XP Home, and the Task Manager can be a lifesaver sometimes.DrngdKreationz wrote:Sorry about the double post but Are you sure you were looking @ windows 2000. It allows you to end the program and the processes from task manager.Bakadeshi [AuN Studios] wrote:Yea I'm not sure on that. I just don't think so because of how it behaves in comparison to Pro. You may be right, but in anycase it lacks alot of the stability featires Pro has, such as the ability to end a process from the task manager should it stop responding, without having to reboot the entire system.
