HA! THAT'S WHY SUB IS BETTER THAN DUB!

And it's true.... because no subs ever have to change voice actoresses, seeing as how they're composed of only text, commonly yellow. The shows on the other hand...

Don't disturb me now, I can see the answers

My thoughts exactly. Out of curiosity, can anyone think of any examples of changing seiyuus in the middle of a series in the original version?

(A little off-topic--I can think of one example of live action American TV where the actor was switched but the character remained... any guesses on the show/examples of other instances?)

Not a perfect example, but the voice actors changed between the Ah! My Goddess OVA and the movie.

If by original you mean Japanese I don't know offhand, except maybe Yu-Gi-Oh (due to decease of Bakura's seiyuu). Lupin has been voiced by at least two seiyuus. On the Sailor Moon dub they changed a number of voice actors when it switched to Cloverway.....which let to Rini being voiced by Sugar from YTV!

On the very old American cartoon The Mighty Hercules they notoriously switched Newton - the voices sounded nothing like each other.

Liva action US TV: Mr. Freeze on Batman. Catwoman on Batman.

They switched Dicks on the show Bewitched. Dick York for Dick Sargent. Neither of them were geniuses but it's still to be known which of the two Dicks was thicker. Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

Didn't the original post say not to make this into a "This is why subbed is better than dubbed" thread...? Oh, well, that's not my place...

My boyfriend was thinking about buying the Excel Saga imPERFECT boxed set or whatever, and I was supporting him, though I think it would just grind my nerves to hear a change in voice in the middle of a show. He's a perfectionist like that, too. And he prefers dubbing, so there's no way I could get him to just sit down and enjoy it. Well, I understand that the original actress would need to save her vocal chords. So, more power to her.
