How to implement a piano?

Post by Lounge Fly » Tue Jul 13, 2004 7:41 pm

I honestly do not know where to put this topic so sorry if it's in the wrong forum

A piano plays in the AMV I'm making. To be more specific, It's The Perfect Drug by NIN. For those of you who know the song, it's at the end playing.

In any case, how can I implement this piano into the video? Should I change colors on each note hit? Do some video manipulation somehow? I'm at a loss of what I can do here. Anyone have any suggestions for this?
I do have AE, so I can use that if need be. Thanks

Anything that works

It's an action video by the way, however, towards the end, everything is calming down and a slower pace.

The Perfect Drug is a very good song. You're making an action vid. Consider this, however: that part of the song is winding down. It's probably better not to do flashy things. If you're following a storyline you set up, pick scenes that will act as the finale to end the story.

Also, if you want, check out this AMV.

Think of it this way. When the song starts to wind down you should try putting in the more significant scenes of the hero reaching his goal or having important realizations.

For example one of the more obvious ones from cowboy bebop. When spike descends from the steps at the end of the series. That's a good slow scene.

Whatever you do, DO NOT put piano striped footage on the screen.

Yeah thats right. I went there. Image

Well I figure I should have some type of action happening because it is very boring without anything happening. See, I'm holding scenes for a very long time with very many still shots. This is why I need something to do here to make it more interesting.

At points I have Saitou walking away from the camera, or the aftermath of a battle, but there are so many clips of that. And some are so short that if I decrease the speed, it looks horrible.

I will not do piano stripes. I've seen them before in an Evolution video. Something that was not to my taste.

Most of the video is of him, as I said, walking away or the aftermath of a fight. But some are just head shots because there really isn't much I can use at this point. I've used so much footage and almost all the action scenes...

But I'm going to try and look for more "goals" or "realizations." There is no storyline behind this. It's a second Tribute to Hajime Saitou I'm making. My first one is okay, but I decided to make a better one. Therefore, no story, just action and character profile.

Oh and by the way, Lone Wolf, I have downloaded that video to see what others have done to this song....I believe that my vid has A LOT more action in it than that one.

Good! Then you will probably want to cap it off with a serene ending. This will create the effect of a closing that will "wash away the adrenaline" from the action part of the song.

Keep in mind there is (barely) such thing as too much action...No wait, I lied.
