The Seiryu [Fushigi Yuugi]

Does anyone like/understand the Seiryu? I'm sick of everyone saying things like: "Yui is such an evil bitch" or whatever. You're entitled to your opinion, but...I'm searching for anyone who likes Seiryu.

Uh.. you're talking about the Seiryuu seishi from Fushigin Yuugi? I don't like Yui much, but I think Tomo, Nakago, and Soi are all pretty cool. They have more depth of character than any of the Suzakus except Nuriko.

Clarification eh? My apologies.

What I'm really asking for is does anyone side with the Seiryu over the Suzaku AND do they think they know why the Seiryu did the things they did. I'm not looking for a right or wrong answer, that'd be ridiculous.

Well, I wouldn't consider the Seiryuu evil at all considering. The only person who could be termed 'evil' is the emporer...well I get that impression from.

Yui was manipulated, Nakago has his own terrible past and the others were just basically doing their job as fate intended (well sort of, considering two priestesses were never supposed to be in the book at the same time ....), so I find it hard to consider them villains.

In the sense of characters, my favourites jump around from side to side. After all, the Seiryuu have Suboshi

Not to mention Yui's priestess outfit looks sooooooo much better than Miaka's...that's just aesthetics though.

Considering I haven't finished reading the series, I don't really know who I'm 'siding' with. Then again, I don't consider the seiryuu villains at all =/

The Boshi twins are my favorite characters in the series.

I got all excited when I saw that Doki Doki's new video to "Ich Bin Ein Auslander" started out focusing on the Seiryuu seishi... and the rest of the video didn't disappoint either.

I had to change a Boshi shot in the intro thing when I realised I had used the same one twice. ^_^; I was disappointed that the show didn't show the body kanji things for all of the Seiryuu.

It's been quite a while since I've seen the show (watching it in FF while doing the video doesn't count

), but the Seiryuu struck me as quite villainous, and Nakago's history was no excuse for his misdeeds. So, for me to make a video sympathetic to them was counterintuitive, but I wanted to see how/if it would work. I thought about doing it perhaps four or five years ago, and didn't get around to doing it until this year. (I started in 2002 but ran out of HD space)

Aside: I wonder how many people here have been in fandom long enough to know about the Tomodachi/Central Anime FY fansub kerfuffle...

personally, i don't think that the warriors of the Seiryuu are evil, its just that they are all products of an evil empire.
