Mods' post deletion

Post by Cloud Clone » Thu Jul 08, 2004 7:06 pm

The mods have been deleting posts without warning or explanation recently. My 'suggestion' is for that to stop, 'cause it's irritating to not fully finish conversations with people 'cause your last post referring to the said party was deleted. So stop that, 'cause it sucks!
You're lucky... I've decided to let you live to see the day when I will rule the world.

And although it would be intensely hillarious to quote the whole post of Cloud Clone's and add a 'x2' sticker, I shall spare you the incredible horror of it all and instead just agree. delete if you like, I really don't care. But notification would be nice. Surely, if you've taken the time to go on a hate parade and delete a person's inane contributions, then surely you can spare a line or two why.

See?

i think its good that the mods delete peoples posts. most of clouds post are useless. this is a forum not a chatroom, if you want to have a 'party' go to a chatroom or  maybe have a real party  :?:  . theres no reason for the mods to notify you that your retarded post has been deleted. and i though you left nestroth :?

I thought so too. But apparently I can do the same as always, So that must mean you guys fuckin' LOVE me! So I've been thinking and re-evaluating my position here on the 'Org. If I'm an asshole (oh, what a sin) I might as well be a constructive asshole and try to do what I originally set out to do (improve the quality of forum posting and lift this place back to it's elitist status) with all the tact, dignity, and grace I can muster. To that end, I imagine a lot of my posts will continue to be deleted because I have a low tolerance for bullshit. I just wanted to know why my stuff got deleted, same as Cloud Clone.

I'm touched that you missed me, Madmag.

Here here Nestorath ;D Right on, and yes I to agree with Cloud I believe we as members of the .org and donating members or not have a right to know exactly why our posts are deleted, why?

1. Well one it ticks people off not to know why.
2. Humans are curious and must know all.
3. It could be that MOD has decided to go on a hate perade(spelling) [MOD: "parade"]
4. If there is no reason posted as to why its deleted then with my way of thinking there should be no reason to delete it so I will post it again and cause more chaos and it would be the MODs fault for not telling me *shrug*.

Mods don't delete posts, only move them. So there is a chance for the site admins to notice if the mods were doing anything wrong.

Well if you know it's so damn "inane", then they really don't need to tell you why they deleted said posts now do they?

I know why my posts have been deleted. I know they'll continue to get deleted. Each post I make will be dedicated to one of two possible quests: Answering the questions I have the capability for (Like, 'How do I post my avatar, how do I do this, how do I do that'- I have no qualms against helping people, I'm all for it) Or pointing out the obvious and blatant stupidity of people. Yeah, that's my mission. If I can get one retarded otaku who thinks OMGLOLZWTF KENSHIN IS TEH SEXAY!!111!!!oneONE!!!!!11! to cry himself to sleep because I forced him to realize how absurd and unintelligent his posts were, then I have succeeded in my mission.

My goal is not to hurt feelings, but to channel and focus posted topics into intelligent and serious discussions instead of the aforementioned stupidity. How do you get a bush to grow the way you want? You have to hurt it, in small amounts. You don't sit there and say, "Please, look like a goblet" you get in there and you shape and cultivate. That's my goal, that's my objective.

Returning to the subject at hand, i was referring to post deletion in general, not my own.

Quite often perfectly decent posts get moved from a thread becaue they were responding to something in the thread that was off topic.

All the off topic posts are taken out at once which makes people think "what did I do wrong". In such situations, however, it is really not worth the mod's time to PM every single person whose post was moved to restore the topic of the thread because there are often so many.
