Video quality in Angel Sanctuary R1 release [SPLIT]

Try any frame that's got Setsuna in his standard white school dress shirt. I can almost guarantee you'll find some rainbowing on the lines of said shirt, if you don't see them in his hair first. Give me until tomorrow, and I can have an example image up.

Well I'm doing right now and I must say its perfectly white I don't see any rainbowish stuff or other colors at all.

I guess I got a bad copy.

As you can see, it gets pretty bad in places.

If you don't have these problems, then you might be looking at an R2 or a bootleg -- I have no idea how those look.

Oh goodness no. You should check out, for example, Synch-Point's release of FLCL... simply beautiful. Much, much cleaner.

(Does anyone know why Angel Sanctuary has what looks like constantly changing but widespread vague noise on it, in addition to the other problems? I didn't notice that until I went back to take these screencaps...)

Apparently, Central Park Media is notorious for cheap DVDs and poor transfers (you can check out some scenes from their release of Utena on <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... html">this page</a> of EADBAG), as is Manga Video (I've got Death and Rebirth, and it could have looked a LOT better).

All I have to say about it is that AVISynth is your FRIEND.

(Perhaps the last few posts should be split and plopped in General Anime or Video? They haven't really been about the 3rd episode specifically...)

Whats even worse on that DVD I just figured out is if you go to the 'Special Features' and check out the picture gallery...AHHH!

Worst quality I've ever wittnessed.

Also pause or screencap the part where Rosiel shoots the brownhaired dude who was Setsuna's friend (Kiaba, I think?), when Rosiel is flying up with the purple energy thing in his hand...that part is BAD.

See what you've done? Now I'm noticing all the crappy little details...ignorance was bliss.
