I can't speak for DB fans, because I hate DB, but the reason Naruto fans use LP a lot is because the lyrics are really easy to relate to the characters.Herbert West wrote:I think Linkin Park is just popular among DB and Naruto fans and that's the reason why it's used that often.

Linkin Park is a good band (for first attempts) in that the lyrics are nice and generic enough that it's hard to not find a series that would work to one of their songs. However, they're generally overused. I'd like to think of them as a good practice band--you can experiment with them before creating a real masterpiece. Nobody will care if you mess up on a Linkin Park AMV because a lot of people will be turned off by the fact that it's Linkin Park.
Conversely, I think there are a lot of artists who don't work for AMV creation. I love Ben Folds, for example, but his lyrics are a little too story-tellerish, thereby making it difficult to work with many of his songs. Some people can do it... you just have to be choosy about what story you want to tell.

I personally think that you are wrong, and the only way you could be wronger is if you were actively trying. Linkin Park is possibly the worst band to couple with most anime, ESPECIALLY DBZ/GT and Naruto.Nikko6910 wrote:what is in your opinion the best band for making AMV's?
I personally think that it is Linkin Park. if you search for linkin park in the super search you will find more results than any other band. Linkin Park has a variety of music, from soft to loud and heavy. this makes it ideal for most vids.
well what do you think?
Now, dont get me wrong, LP are my favourite band, but I'm sick and tired of hapless n00bs ruining their "latest single". In The End got fucked up the ass, while One Step Closer got a steaming load of camel cum in its face. People only use LP when they cant come up with something original. Basically what you're saying is LP videos rock because there are so many of them. Well, go download a few. You'll get sick of them b4 long. Theres a few good ones, and these are:
Love Eternal by Zarxrax ("In The End"/Saikano)
Traces Of Insanity by MeriC ("Crawling"/DBZ Trunks Tribute)
Vegeta Tribute by Dark Kamui ("In The End"/DBZ)
There really arent that many good ones out there. Most of them are total shit, made in either WMM or pirated Premiere, over-compressed and under-edited with no synch of any sort, and it gives your eyes gonorrhea to watch.
Linkin Park music videos mostly suck balls. BIG time. Quantity does not equal quality.

Nah, seriously, there isn't such a thing.
Does popularity make it best? Well, not really. At least not for me. I wouldn't be particularly interested in making Linkin Park or Slipknot AMV's. And I'm much better at making AMV's to music I make personal and intelligent connections to - not that this is a stab at either of the above bands, since I have nothing against them.
Oh, well, I'm sure Linkin Park is easier to edit! That must make it the best - I mean look - it uses the Great Sacred 4/4! And conventional chord sequences! And fairly ordinary, clear lyrics! Um, but wait, that's not true, either... Nor does it make it easier.
There's nothing in music that inherently makes it more or less fitting to AMV's in general. To specific anime, maybe. To AMV's in general, definitely not - I mean seriously, if Linkin Park works for a dramatic Trigun video or something, is it not naive to think that its' 'bestness' makes it just as good for making a slapstick DiGi Charat AMV?
Then there's the question of simplicity - does understandable, conventionally-structured music automatically mean its' easier to work with? Not really. I don't think good Linkin Park AMV's are made good by the virtue of being made to LP - the 'best music' for the purpose. A shame that a number of lazy, incompetent creators would have us believe otherwise. The fact that there's a lot of Linkin Park videos in the database, most of which (as, sadly, is true of many kinds of AMV's) are poorly-edited, does not mean it's the best for AMV's; rather, to me it suggests a large number of lazy ears involved with this type of music.
And of course, if simple music was easy to edit to, minimalistic music would be best. Which of course is a lie, which I discovered after I spent as much time on making a 3-minute video to a song that almost lacks backing instrumentals as I did on making a 7.5 minute sonically-rich semi-improv avant-garde opus...
Naw, anyway, I really think it's a ridiculous question, seeing how not everyone is looking for the same things in music, AMV's, etc.

Oh, and my other answer is, as always, KING CRIMSON!11one

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
