Creed - My sacrifice (Just a quick question e_e)

Okay, I'm making an AMV to the song My Sacrifice, I know lame song but I think it's a really nice theme for what I'm trying to do. The lyrics match well with the anime....though I have a very stupid question. Since I match up scenes to match the lyrics I need to know, the main lyric where he goes "My sacrifice" What does that mean? I understand the rest of the song but for some reason I have no idea what he means by saying "my sacrifice" Obviously those words will probably wind up changing my whole perspective of the song....but any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There is probably a literal meaning, but I tend to not follow the literal meanings of songs.

Find the interpreation that fits with the anime/scene that you are working with. There are unlimited ways to view any given lyric when put to use artistically.

Just my thought.

Thanks for your thought! I used to put my interpretation of songs into my AMVs but lately I've become more of a perfectionist with them and I keep thinking someone will watch it and be like "That's not what the lyrics means!" Yet what you're saying makes perfect sense, thanks!

Truth is you can probably match up any song to any anime you want.
What’s really important: how you manipulate the images the people are seeing to music.
Since I don’t know which anime you’re making the AMV about, I’ll go on a limb.
Reading the song lyrics this song is about lost love and friendship. The “My Sacrifice” part seems like a stand alone, so maybe it’s more of a mystic/spiritual thing or he sacrificed himself by letting this other person be free without him. Because of this sacrifice he suffers every day.
