Defenition of "Anime"

man, if watching anime stamps a person an idiot...
Then I am f'n proud to be an idiot.
But just to contibute to the thread...
I think anime is deffenitly Japanese influenced animation. But Anime is also very Diverse. it has graytones, whit tones, and black tones. What I mean is that... and this is just my personal opinion and observation... it seems to me that western cartoons carry extrem conintations. Bugs bunny, animaniacs, freakazoid, ninja turtles, just to name a few... would be on the kids extreme. (usually only grabbing kids views. USUALLY. then you have these independant and weird cartoons on stations like mtv or something that usually only capture the way mature audience. SHows like Simpsons and The family Guy and Futurama are rare but winning shows that capture all audiences. But those are rare shows for western animation. Where as almost all Japanese anime is appropriate for all ages and generally all anime captures any audience.
Sailor moon for instance, marked as a girlie show... But I know tons of guys that watch it (Not just to see cute anime chick in short skirts) they won't admitt it, but they do. lol CCS. thats a pretty good example for one that get all ages AND sexes. and DBZ, Princess Moninoke (I think I just slaughtered the spelling on that) Cowboy Bebop, Rah Xephon, Evangelions (well, don't know about that one, lol)

lol evangelion should only be watched by seasoned professors of psychology so i can see one of their brains explode for once instead of mine even though i pick up things in anime rather quickly most of that series is just really fooked up. hehe and other series where more than half your main cast dies
