You know, I had been thinking something similar. Except that we wouldn't put Phade's name on the new list (unless he does in fact have a new list he feels like contributing).

How long has it been since it was last changed anyhow?
That list was there when I joined....
Well we now have a MUCH larger selection to choose from. So if anyone wants to get together, I would be willing to sort through all of the AMVs ive seen to come up with prime examples of required viewing.

And a much better selection to choose from to boot. I'm making a required viewing list in my profile forv shits and giggles.

I figure the best way to get people to rating things correctly is to make it more objective and standardize everything. To get a majority vote to say "This is the kind of video that deserves a 10, and this is what all other videos should be judged by".

I hope I'm not alone in thinking the ranking system needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Going and recalculating the averages is the equivilent of rearanging deck chairs on the Titanic.

Well, we have:
It's Tricky To Make A Music Video for working with a lot of different anime.
Playground Love for making ones own graphics, as well as the artistic approach.
Evlis vs. Anime and Because I Choose To for compositing.
We Are The Fuse for great sync and working in action.
Fallen Angels for embedding lots of meaning into a video.
Euphoria for using lots of effects and attracting a lot of attention, not all of it friendly.

As for how not to do it, well, those are easy to come by.

I still think it's kind of subjective as to what's a 'must see'- so perhaps the best way is to pull genre- and technique-appropriate videos from the top 10% or star scale lists?

Anyway, I guess it's ultimately up to the admins anyway.

Oh, and Wasteland for using instrumental music and classical poetry references. :)

I withdraw my previous statement and vote for the list to be implemented ASAP!

As far as the "best" yes it is, but in terms of ideal example it's not as subjective as you might think, Dr. Eva, A Flash Before Your Eyes, If (Statement=True) (Statement=False);, and !@#$%& Amor! are videos I think are the ideal examples of videos that deserve a 10 for originality. Anyone disagree?

I don't care what any of you guys think are the best videos, I see that list as being the perogative of the person running the site :P A perk of the job, shall we say.

As that happens to be me at the moment I guess I'll just have to write an AbsoluteDestiny's required viewing to go alongside phades :D

Care to share any of the videos you happen to think will make that list at this point?
