Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

6. The video is just a cleaner version / different encoding of an existing video. If you have a remastered* version of your video file, do not create a new video entry. Instead, contact Phade about having your video file replace (an automated system is being created).

* remaster - to recreate a video using the same video content but with different (usually cleaner) source material; the new video should have the exact same content, scene for scene. Example: Your video was originally created with VHS source. The DVDs for the anime used in your video have now been released. You can then create a remastered version of your video with the DVD source. The final video should look exactly like the original video, except with greater visual quality.

This information is going to go into the site faq. I'm going to make some of this stuff a little clearer.

Most of the time people want to create a new entry if it's got new editing simply because they dont want the old reviews to count against it.

If there's not much of a difference, though, I dont mind.
Hmm, looks like I'll be putting up my first video ever then. I have been avoiding putting it up because I was going to remake it, but the work I have done make's it much diffrent than the orginal. So I'll make two entrys for it. ^_^''

Maybe I'll still wait to add both at the same time.

What you're SUPPOSED to do with a remake is tack a number onto the end of it and list it as a different video, Like "Closer to God 2" for example.
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Note also this quote on the 'Closer to God 2' video entry:

"It's the same song choice and theme as the original version... but it's also very different. A lot of stuff has changed, all for the better, I'd say. It's almost a brand new video (at least to me)."

I've changed no scenes for Tarzan and Su. It's the same video as before. If I had not mentioned the lip-synch improvements, I doubt anyone would have even noticed them. It's not frame-by-frame identical, but personally, I have neither the discipline nor the inclination to match the video frame-by-frame when I'm completely replacing the fansub source footage with DVD source. The original had lip-synching, so as I rebuilt that lip-synch with more experience under my belt, it came out slightly different and slightly better.

The video is still a remaster, not a remake. I personally doubt that ANY AMV remastering ends up with a frame-by-frame duplicate of the original unless the only thing they're doing is modifying the render options. I rebuilt the entire video from scratch, so of course there's going to be minor differences. Does that make it a different video? No, just a slightly cleaner one. Every shot, every gag, every sequence remains the same. I remain very happy with and proud of my original video, and wouldn't dream of significantly changing it.

Yeah, I'd class the new one as a remaster - and very nice it is too :)

I agree, I really liked the orginal, and this cleaned up most of the problems I had with the first one. (Lip sync is really good now)

It's always been an excellent vid, so it's both surprising and very good to see the remaster.

And, a (real-life) friend of mine I showed it to is of the opinion that this is the best video ever made
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Thanks for the compliment! I always appreciate it. If even one person truthfully considers it 'the best video ever made,' then it's more than I could ever have hoped when I started it. Of course, if you really think it's a great video, the best way to show appreciation is helping to raise my Star Score...
